Very surprised and happy to have signed Kallio and Nosworthy. Neither are world beaters who will put a few thousand on the gate but we were desperately short at the back in terms of quality and quantity. Taylor may be one for the future but right now he is a liability, Stewart is a poor player and Fortune whilst I commend his effort and I'm sure he is technically a decent player I've always thought whilst seeing him play he's one tackle off ending his career.

I never saw Kallio play but he got rave reviews from those who did see him and Nosworthy is a player I thought who had pace, not sure if it's still the case.

My preferred back four would be Kallio Morgan Nosworthy Walker

Disheartening that we didn't re-sign Naughton, it would be interesting to know for sure the reason why this didn't happen.

Blackwell says he heard some whispers that some of our players may have been off but nothing happened. Anybody know anything? I'd guess at Morgan, Henderson, Ward or Evans.

I don't think we were in for Naughton to be honest, despite the rumours. If we were, it could have been Harry's decision not to have both Kyle's at the same club on loan, or just that Boro offered a higher wage contribution

Could be, but be nice to know, I think we-signing him would have really given the whole club a boost.

Whackie Blackie says we fought off Pompey to sign Nyron, love it! By some experts view this means Blackwell is more respected in the game than Avram Grant :thumbup::thumbup:

Likewise. I expected us to get a centre-half in, though didn't think it would be someone as reliable as Nosworthy. And I didn't really expect us to get another left-back in - I saw Kallio at QPR and he was very solid, so very much more reliable than Taylor or Stewart. We have a pretty decent defence now - better still when Seip is fit.

Nosworthy is a similar deal as Jags to Everton and Beattie coming the other way.
Killa to Sunderland and Nosworthy coming the other way.
Good day for us though no loss of players.
