Sir Geoff was a legend though.I've always thought that. Bit like Sir Geoffrey Boycott at cricket.

But what if it’s 2’11 feet”? We’d need VAR for every back pass.Drives me mad when the moment a goalie gets the ball from a header or shot he collapses with it on the ground as though he's been shot.
Should be some legislation about passing the ball back anyway. How many times do teams come back from the 18yd line and it goes back to centre back or even goalie.! Why not a 3 pass back maximum rule , before a free kick is awarded
No what i meant was three consecutive back passes, of any length. Used to have a rule in Rugby didn;t they about the same sort of thing.>But what if it’s 2’11 feet”? We’d need VAR for every back pass.
My granddad used to take me to the Lane in the late 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. Whilst he liked TC he always said Hagen was better.Love this.
My Dad really rated Joe Shaw and thought Hagan was a magician as well.
It's a pity there is not more footage of that era as for all the talk of TC, I always got the impression that Hagan was regarded as the best. He also didn't leave us, unlike TC.
Occurred to me other night: is the 6 second rule still in force for Goalies holding onto the ball?. Cannot remember which game or Goalie it was but counted from him collapsing on the ball 18 seconds, obviously he was time wasting.Drives me mad when the moment a goalie gets the ball from a header or shot he collapses with it on the ground as though he's been shot.

Going to upset a few people here, but although Joe Shaw and Jimmy Hagan and TC and Woody are Blades Greats and rightly so, the facts are that in all that time the club won fuck all, apart from the 2nd Division title in 1953. In the fifties when Hagan and Shaw were at their peak, we were at best a yo-yo club. In the years between 1949 and 1961, the club spent 3 seasons in Division 1. Currie and Woody fared a little better but aside from one cup semi appearance in 1961, which was before their time, we were never even close to winning anything. Indeed our cup record in the early 70's was abysmal.
So for all those memories of players having great games and memorable performances, there were at least equally as many poor performances. There wasn't even the huge financial gap then as there is now.

Bring back the three step/pace then a bounce of the ball rule for goalkeepers, this would bring them back into play and challengeable like the rest of the players. No what i meant was three consecutive back passes, of any length. Cant quote it cos I dont watch Rugby much.
Think it still on the rule book but not enforced much.Occurred to me other night: is the 6 second rule still in force for Goalies holding onto the ball?. Cannot remember which game or Goalie it was but counted from him collapsing on the ball 18 seconds, obviously he was time wasting.
