I'm a glass half full type of bloke generally, and when it comes to United I am certainly not a clapper by any means but 40-years a Blade has taught me that shit happens and it is what it is...

So far this summer it's been a mixed bag and the pessimists are out in force.....DB36, (as my upset 12 year-old refers to him) is going and naturally we fear our other Crown Jewels may be next out the door, (JOC & Fleck in particular).....and we have a solitary signing through the door so far in a Manchester United 4th/5th choice keeper. We have been linked with many players, some good, some with potential but so far, nothing has borne fruit. CW has been promised a decent budget, regardless of the Brooks money, (so we are lead to believe) but something is stopping us getting signings over the line at the moment, I can only presume this is wages?

However we kept hold of our prized asset in CW and the Desso is looking great.

Season ticket sales are slightly down and the marketing department are pissing about with teasers for the new strip instead of just releasing the bloody thing...

All-in-all we need something positive to come out of BDTBL and reasonably quickly....a couple of quality signings unveiled in the new kit on Monday will go some way to perking things up a bit....

Lets face it, it could be worse, we could support the other lot....

He didn’t play much last year and contributed to a win at Leeds and that’s about it in terms of points he produced for us.

If we go and sign some players with that money who win us more than 2 points the first team will be stronger for it.

Nailed it with the wages issue.

As for Fleck and JOC I don’t see any mid table Prem sides looking at them just yet. The worry for me on that score would be the likes of Cardiff, lower end Prem and Colin knows our trigger points for selling £3-4m and 25k a week wages is nothing to a newly promoted Prem side.

Ten minutes after it is confirmed that Brooks is leaving, United announce "great news blades fans, the news you've all been waiting for-the new strip will be announced tomorrow at 10.30" you know it's going to happen, don't you.

It's not July yet! If the worst news we receive all summer is £12 million up front for one player I think we're doing alright.

Wilder is only here because he's been promised money to spend, just be patient and we'll be fine.

Of course, I am a hopeless optimist, so feel free to disagree :)

Remember the transfer window closes five weeks earlier this year.

Only five weeks to go....

Loving your optimism Tray but cw is only here because they doubled his salary.

I'm not i feel the need to be constantly reassured, although there are historical reasons why i can see why you'd need that.

Personally i've never felt more relaxed with the club, including the owners and the way we work. It comes from Wilder, but it also comes from things we've done and are constantly doing to move forward.

Yes we are a championship club which wants to keep players, but that also has to be weighed up, to move forward we perhaps have to sell some assets.

The lack of transfer activity is a big positive.

In the past we’ve brought in the best players from league 1 and league 2.
Obviously those players when offered a big pay rise playing in a higher division with much bigger crowds
Don’t need much encouragement to sign for us. Hence business is signed sealed and delivered very early.

This season we’ve changed our policy and looking at bringing in better, more tried and tested players.
Those players are already on good salaries at good clubs, so prefer to consider their options and will leave it late.

Of course we can offer massive unrealistic wages and they’ll sign immediately but we’re not able to do that.
Wilder has several targets of high quality, it’s now a waiting game with continuous back and forth negotiation.

I agree with this on some extent and know what you are trying to say but I think that put the lad down a little.

I wouldn't put him down as we haven't really seen his full potential yet think he is still very raw and no where near the finished product hence the 12 million pound we have taken for him.

As mentioned he has great potential but who knows if he is going to be able to fill it yet it might work for it or it might not can think of players where it's happened in both ways so we will wait and see. But as for the money if we are able to invest it all then I think that's good business done as we will be able to strengthen the team with that kind of money.

I would have been much more upset to see some one like fleck, coutts, O'Connell even baldock or Freeman go over Brooks and that doesn't mean that I don't think he is going to be a great player at all he has the world at his feet but we will see how it goes for him.

Not sure any signings have been stopped, stalled or cancelled due to anything. One thing I do know is that most player contracts end in the 1st week of July. And since the arrival of Wilder, no news doesn't mean nowt happening.

1st July doesn't stop any other club announcing signings though does it?

No, but generally there's been few transfers announced yet. Doesn't mean they haven't been agreed and finalised and the World Cup will muddy things somewhat. Nothing apparent yet to suggest we have any sort of recruitment issue.

If/when Brooks goes so be it, I like everyone else will be holding my breath waiting for wilders interview, its after that interview that will decide how excited I will be about the forthcoming season, could go one of two ways, Wilder is full of optimism and confirms the player wanted to go and that he himself sanctioned the move not the board and a substantial part of the funds will go towards his budget or Wilder follows Brooks out the door, a nightmare I cannot think about, we should all know soon you would think. UTB.
