Good luck Hal, it'll not take long to feel at home here. It's changed (modernised) for the better, a lot in the last 10 years or so. Limassol is a buzzing City with loads to do

On the flip side, l can confirm, flights are.... challenging. WizzAir, into Sheffield-Doncaster, was amazing value around the turn of the year but they seemed to have knocked it on the head now. If history is anything to go by, there will be cheaper ways to come and go (there's a car / passenger ferry service into Greece these days) it's just a trick of finding them. As is often the case, word of mouth will likely see you straight. Particularly as you're going to be part off the community around the British Bases.

We flew back from Hong Kong by CNFP once. Only cost us a tenner each. Turns out having mates in the RAF was useful.
Do BFBS staff qualify for that service?
I’m sure you will enjoy it out there. Great place with some fascinating and varied opportunities to fill your down time.
Skiing in the Troodos mountains in the morning. Beach BBQ in the afternoons! I recommend a drive through the more remote central parts of the island. Like stepping back in time. Nicosia just too damn hot in the summer.
Boat trip to Cairo and the Holy land was interesting too. What a pity you have a job to do out there.
