Good day for the Whiners

It's interesting how the table doesn't lie this season but it did last season. Interesting how if you score more than the opposition you deserved to win. But that most certainly didnt apply last season either.

Good to know for future that the only thing that matters is the score. Despite the same posters constantly claiming we didnt deserve 92 points last year.

When we were winning 1 nowt last year and hanging on people said it wasn't "lucky" and was a Wilder masterclass, so yesterday when the opposite occurred we cant complain, only thing that matters is the score owt else is irrelevant.
Exactly this. Literally the exact opposite stance they had last season. Remarkable.

We are going backwards. Poor summer recruitment of players and manager, now compounded by bringing an ex manager back who lacks the fresh ideas and impetus we desperately need.

Wilder isn't the man to take us forward in the future IMHO so this season has become a car crash of bad decisions.

If this 2 week break doesn't see any improvement in fitness and tactics....he should go too. We have to start afresh at some point and there would still be half a season to go.
We currently have a board, on all available evidence, woefully out of their depth, being led by the nose by a cliché ridden manager who is struggling, big time, to live up to now long distant glories, his own ego and inability to change things.

It'll be interesting to see how long he gets if things don't improve quickly.

And the post match pressers are about as believable as Russell Martins.

The problem with your posts is that you hate Wilder more than you love United

It’s unlucky if you’ve battered the opposition and made their keeper pull off numerous saves. We had a long shot from Gus that he tipped around the post and Burrows passed a penalty to their keeper.

Apart from that, Peck headed it over the bar from 2 yards out with no one in front of him.

Hamer was unlucky with the left foot effort at the post, that’s it.

We’d make some luck if we attacked the opposition more frequently. It’s hard to be lucky with 5 yard passes in the centre of the pitch and the occasional % hoof to the channels.

People quoting today’s stats as validation for a dominant performance clearly don’t understand how football works. Hull shut up shop at 1 nil and allowed us to have the ball. We did next to nothing with it. The stats just show how inept we are at defending and attacking in that we conceded a soft goal and didn’t score a penalty.

We will start attacking more, we already are attacking more.

I am very much on record not rating Wilder and wanting him out. He will get us scoring and he will get us winning matches, might not be high quality football but I think he will get there.

The opposite could be said for other posters. And there’s the problem, we are very divided, have been for quite a while. There’s not much united about us.
I’ll agree that our support is divided and I can see peoples thinking without agreeing with them. I don’t see the people that care for Wilder more than the club though. Thinking that he’s the right man to sort this mess out isn’t thinking he’s the messiah because he’s clearly not. IMO he should have had this season to fine tune us as we were so close. If it didn’t work again then was the time for a total reset. The summer and the owners have turned us into a total car crash

Cannon had a header he should've buried.

The scramble somehow not converted.

Pen not given on Campbell just inside box.

Gus free kick.

Gus goal bound shot blocked from second phase.

Add them to your list.

To counter "don't understand how football works": United were in the the ascendancy before the goal too. I'd also question whether a side would let the opposition dominate any game just because they have a 1-0 lead. It's far too risky a strategy to be sustainable.

Still no end result 3 league wins since beating Coventry in April total of ( I think ) scoring 8 goals in 15 league games 3 wins 1 draw 11 losses

Yep, we should've been building on last year not destroying a one summer total partial rebuild. It was pretty obvious. The list of unfixable problems until Jan is pretty extensive. There's some that are probably baked in for the season.

Absolute nonsense.

Unfortunately, the one who claimed to have reconnected the club (he didn't, we were connected, just tired of Division 3 and repeated failure) is now the source of disconnection.

Said elsewhere that the resurgence under him was 'joyous', and it was and I'm thankful for him, it and that I saw it, but that's a very long time ago now and he's not bringing to the table what he once had.
The club is flat, apathetic, lacks atmosphere and it is, in part, down to him and his choices along with the former and current boards.

This started long before Selles came here, from December 2020, the events of CW leaving first time and everything that has transpired since then. The rot had already long set in.

Two visits to the PL, how many 100's of millions of quid have we had access to, and our current position is testament to dreadful decision making, lack of long term planning and just look at what's on the pitch right now. A bunch of players that we all know, pro or against CW or any other manager, would get nowhere near the side that climbed from Div 3, even if only on pure effort terms.

I don't hate him. I hate only two people in my longish life, and for very good reason. I'm just tired of the character driven football politics and failure.

I want better for us, and right now, we're light years off it.

Love the club to bits, but I'm not blind to current realities.

Wilder has to be our manager, we can’t cope without him. It doesn’t bother me that he’s our manager and I hope he does well. However I don’t see how he’s going to get us scoring, the 2 promotion seasons we scored a lot of goals, it’s like trying to play on the front foot gets you promoted for something!

All of them. I'm guessing you agree, you didn't or that you don't have the analytical skills to break them down

I was making the same point that Houston _Blade was in that every time we went 1-0 up last season we sat back and let teams dominate us. We were just very lucky that not many of them took their chances.

The difference last season is that despite fine margins we deserved the vast majority of those victories.

You deserve all victories you get, that's the nature of football.

However, it's possible to recognise that a narrow win was deserved, as it was on so many occasions last season, while recognising that continually winning by such slim margins is unsustainable in the long term, as the back end of last season and all of this season have borne out.

Not many had the chances. Even at Wembley Sunderland had two not particularly easy chances and took them both, and that game was more balanced than most of our games.

The frustration with United last season is that we didn't turn ascendancy into 2,3,4, 5 goal margins imo. Even then without the Souttar/Arblaster injuries we possibly win the league or run Leeds very close. People put the lack of 2,3,4, 5 down to tactics. I think an ongoing lack of firepower was as much of a reason.

The only game we've competed as well as we did in a sizeable amount of wins last season is yesterday. We're miles of last season's level. The list of issues we have compared to last season is huge. If people think we're going to start winning a ton of games when it clicks, that we'll go back to last year and coming the right side of the mythical "fine margins" of those games I have news for them.

Unfortunately its only going to get worse if we continue to be in free fall. As this thread and one or two others doing the rounds at the moment confirm we are split down the middle. Any criticism of the manager is currently perceived as having an agenda. Any constructive comments regarding how we should improve are shouted down with history lessons attached. The vitriol and angst currently doing the rounds is not healthy and your earlier comments that there is more to life than football ring true.

I originally joined blades forums as a result of reading one of Deadbats first reports on the clubs web site. It was informative and well researched. I find it sad that yesterday DB a respected poster was being accused of deliberately writing negative reports to engender a reaction from an anti CW faction. People need to step back and take a deep breath before they put their thoughts in writing.

I wish I could give this two likes. Nail on the head, most sensible contribution to another torrid weekend.

FFS, final whistle just blew and the wrist slashers are fucking loving it. Usual bollocks about the players not caring, manager hasn't got a clue, no one's fit to wear the shirt etc. Did any of you mardy arses watch the game? I mean seriously, did you see what happened on the pitch or were you too busy working yourself into a lather about the result?

If you watched the game we fucking battered them. We were quicker to the ball, we knocked it about, we fought for it but all you see is we lost again and the meltdowns start. We gifted them a goal yet again, a fucking disaster at the back but we did more than enough to win that game. Hit the post, biggest goal mouth scramble in history and we picked the wrong player to take the pen. If you didn't see a big improvement it's because you didn't want to. We were vastly improved on recent performances and I'm optimistic we'll start picking points up soon.

Sorry if that offends some of you lightweights but ey, I'm not really sorry, I just don't give a fuck.

And Campbell should have had a pen.

If you've any of that deludamol left, can I have three bottles? Better make it four - it's a long season.
