I'm hoping that we're taking advantage of their current turmoil and pinching one of the latest great young players off the Monaco conveyor belt, though I must admit, I know next to nothing about Gouano.

Monaco have ridiculous potential. They spent over 60m on a 16.and 17 year old after they won champions league and sold players. They have so many decent youth players out on loan its unreal, they're all bloody injured though lol

I know they reinvested some of their recent transfer revenue into some really good young players like Geubbels and Pellegri, but I don't think that necessarily constitutes potential. At least, not in the case of Monaco: they're a mess.

Geubbels and Pellegri may have been among the best 16 year olds in the world at the time of purchase, but I think Monaco are guilty of assuming that players with that reputation, at that age would naturally develop into the best players in the world, just like with Mbappe.
Unfortunately, a combination of lacking a proper strategy or pathway to the first team, the inevitable complacency and inflated ego that comes with being a multi-million pound teenager and bad luck with injuries, there's little hope of these lads developing into the world-class players Monaco are hoping for.

I'm sure more young players will come out of Monaco - the law of averages suggests they should. But there's a lot going on there right now, and they're not the slick production line they once were.
