I know this gets brought up time and time again, so sorry for the repetition.

Watching the QPR v Leeds game has just reminded me how much i HATE goal music. It annoys me when we hear it away grounds, and I cringe every time it gets played at Bramall Lane.

Serious question, does anybody like it? and if so, why would you justify it being played? It doesn't create a better atmosphere, it is so much better when you break into song straight after. It particularly would encourage more songs for individual players if the goal music stopped, an issue brought up in other threads.

So, if I got a petition to get it stopped would it: a) fetch enough signitures and b) be taken seriously by the club?

I think it's pretty pointless and would rather hear the roar of the crowd when a goal is scored.

Agreed, not a fan either, very cheesy and takes away from the noise of the crowd.

I would even say the same to the team entering the pitch to music - makes my stomach turn every time I hear that Star Wars music or and anything else we come out to.

Do Liverpool or Man United have music when they enter the pitch or when they score a goal??? No.

Why not have the players come out to the fans singing Greasy Chip Butty.

Sheffield United are fortunate enough to have a ground in which the acoustics lend themselves well to the roar of the faithful; this artificial atmosphere created by overly-loud music is woefully unnecessary (especially having spent the last few seasons with a speaker pointing directly at my face blaring at a volume far greater than should be allowed).

By all means, have music before the match, at half time, and maybe even after. But in the minutes leading up to kick-off, the fans provide by far enough atmosphere, not to mention when we score.

100% spot on. Some of the best atmosphere's were in the Derby games when they would turn the music off for 10 minutes in the lead up to the players coming out, it would be amazing.

If I remember rightly I think in 2005 when we beat the Pigs 1-0, they turned the music off 10 minutes before and then brought out Alan Kelly, Deano, Whitehouse and Booker onto the pitch, the noise was brilliant.

Hate, HATE, that cheesy music. Just what are the powers that be, thinking about ? We get good gates and our fans create a good atmosphere. I would like to know who makes these decisions ?

Good luck with the petition. I can't believe anybody would come on here and defend something that reduces the event to a teenage boy band concert

Can we get Clough and Brayford to sign it

I think we more or less invented it with the Liverpool cup semi in 2003 the Tom Hark celebration went viral that...

I think it was the Leeds game in the league cup... It was the peter ndlovu song. When he scored Sinclair just played it

Yes it was, but the Liverpool game was on live TV and most people outside the club picked it up from there, I know it got plenty of mentions in the press the following day. (This was back in the days when the press printed positive things about us before we upset the sainted West Ham)

Burnley had been using Tom Hark for ages before that, we were still using the Professionals theme for most of that season. Wolves and Ipswich using Tom Hark stems from them taking the piss after scoring against us.

I know in the past Sinclair has said that he wants to stop playing it but the club won't let him. However, the club seems more interested in listening to fans recently, so get that petition going, and send it to Jim Phipps. It wouldn't surprise me if they listened this time.

We sang it in April 2001 after Ndlovu equalised at Ewood Park. It didn't really catch on with much ferocity until a couple of years later.

It's been brought up with the club many times in the last few years, but whilst a lot of people don't like it (me included), there are some that do, especially amongst the younger supporters.

Correct. As has been mentioned, a few teams were already using it before us but after the cup games in that season, it really caught on and loads of clubs started using it.

The creeping of Americanisms into our beloved game. And while we are at it lets stop talking about assists, when did all that crap leak into the game.
The same time as the MOTD tossers Lineker and Co started calling goal posts the goal frame & linesmen assistant referees, still I suppose it is better than what I call them at times.

I just seen a tweet from the Phippsmeister : ner ner ner, ner ner ner, ner ner ner ner, ner ner ner. Go Blades.
