With two hands tighed behind his back Micky is doing a great job....go Micky go !

All on loan so I think they are to some extent but he would have known that when taking the job. I applaud him for getting them in though. I like what he's trying to do short term.

Like what he's doing.........but don't think you'll bother next term with a season ticket?

I'm confused Steel. First choice, doing a good job etc etc, but possibly won't be there next term to see the fruits of his labour?

The squad he's inherited (much like Britton) is small and shite, I understand his moves in the market completely. Get the Loaners in til the end of the season to fight the fire then use the Summer to begin the rebuild with his squad.

There's gonna be a big turnaround in personnel at the Lane come July/August.

The club can't continue to pay Monty, Britton, Quinn, Morgan, Cresswell, Ward, Evans the massive wages their on thats already been said.

Chubby Seth on Radio Pig described our squad as top heavy with a few big earners taking 70% of the wage budget.

Yep, agree with the thoughts about next Summer. We have the Irish lads waiting in the wings, there'll be a few moved on to free up money for the likes of Tomlinson from Port Vale, hopefully, one or two from the 'development team' will be ready to step into the squad and there'll be a few lower division players to fill the gaps. Hopefully our Neil will help us out with one or two ridiculous bids :)

Good thread.

I don't think summer surgery will be nearly as deep as we or Adams would like. Evans etc are going nowhere until their contracts expire. There are few clubs around who are as daft as we were.

I don't mind the long term loan deals, the short month to month loans are frustrating, but this season we only seem to have had Andy Reid on a Short term deal.

With the exception of perhaps Bartley and maybe Parino, all of the rest we could realistically try to sign at the end of the season. If we want them. If not they go back to their clubs and we move on

So Micky is getting loanees in to get a look at them and add a bit of quality (hopefully).

Micky is clearly dealing with the right now, whilst Pembo et al are on an academy boosting drive.

I'm relatively happy with the way things are going (the results will come) and I firmly believe that the strategy would not have been much better (in the short term) with another manager.

Off the field, for me, Micky's ticking all the right boxes just now. Lets hope it continues and transfers onto the pitch.

I agree Swiss, Micky is doing a fantastic job short term with the resources he has.....as I knew he would do. My only concern is that we must have players who are committed to the cause. MA suggested that all of these loan moves would be with a view to a permanent deal. a) I hope that is the club's intention and b) more importantly I hope it is the players' intention.

We need players that care about what happens to the club. The danger with loans is having players that might have an eye on going back to their parent club and aren't giving you their heart and soul. Its ok to patch a squad up here and there but when half of your team is borrowed you can be on very dodgy ground. I'm not at all disputing the integrity of the lads we have signed, their attitude might be excellent. I just think for the benefit of the club long term, we need to be getting some permanent signings in as well to ensure everyone is focused on the same goal.

Agreed SCB, I said on the Bent thread that Micky won't allow Bent to sit back and enjoy his loan, Micky won't allow passengers, he wants committed players and I am sure that when each of these loanees signed on for us, they signed in Blood :D

The Bent deal is a clear sign that Micky is using his contacts, short term, after recognising our clear short falls - literally short falls - there is no height in the team which means we are pathetic at attacking set pieces and useless at defending them.

Whilst Hendo is crocked and Cresswell is not fully fit we need a strong forward player that can hold the ball up so it doesn't keep coming straight back at us. Chedders is not that sort of player (not sure what sort he is without resorting to foul and abusive language, though) so Micky has bent one in from left field. It remains to be seen if Marcus can still cut the mustard. May be too early to judge against Norwich. MB hasn't scored a league goal for 2 years - he should fit right in then.
