Always been a player who seems to play well against us.

The Star said:
GLEN Little, the former Reading and Portsmouth winger, will spend the next two weeks training with Sheffield United.
The 33-year-old, whose contract at Fratton Park expires this morning, is expected to report for pre-season training at Shirecliffe on Friday before travelling to Malta with Kevin Blackwell's side.

Little will be joined in the Mediterranean by another winger - Kyel Reid - after the South Yorkshire club confirmed he was due to undergo a medical at Bramall Lane at lunchtime.

The United manager told The Star: "Glen is going to be spending some time with us and we'll see how things go.

"He'll be coming in with the rest of the lads and then he'll be coming abroad with us too."

News that Reid, previously of West Ham, is finally set to complete his protracted transfer from Upton Park brings to an end speculation about his long-term future.

Like Little, he is a free agent.

Blackwell added last night: "Kyel is an exciting player with bags of potential. He's got the extra advantage of being very quick."

Reid's presence, combined with United's decision to offer Little a trial, confirms Blackwell wants to inject extra width into a squad which finished third in the Championship and reached the play-off final last season.

Little signed a 12-month agreement with Portsmouth in the summer of 2008 but spent the closing stages of the campaign on loan at the Madejski Stadium.

He and Reid could make their first appearance in United colours against Floriana next Friday.

United had initially been scheduled to face Maltese champions Hibernians but their involvement in European qualification has prompted a change of opponents.

Floriana, the island's best-supported club, recently appointed Roddy Collins as their new manager.

He was a fantastic player and maybe still is, could do a good job for us

Always thought he was a tricky opponent. Knocking on a bit now but on a free so I'd get him as back up if nothing else - proper out and out winger as well.

Could be a good signing if he still has the drive at his age; things didn't work out for him at Pompey but he never really got a run in the team so i think it would be harsh to judge him on that.
