Good to see a massive blades flag in the middle of the shot for most of yesterdays acts - the cameraman must have been a blade!

I thought I'd seen one when I watched a bit of the Gorillaz. So of course I watched a bit more, to try and see said flag again. This unfortunately meant that I had to endure Damon Albarn's shitty ego-trip pub band for ten more minutes, but this is the price you pay.

Now, I didn't see/hear this myself, but apparently there was a rendition of gresay chip butty between songs emanating from the blades flag area.

Could be a load of bollocks though.

"A Load of Bollocks"

Would that be the original version or the remix?

There always seems to be a Blades flag at Glastonbury. Maybe it's the same people.

Glastonbury is a bag of wank, just about on a par with Wimbledon :fishbowl::rolleyes:

Clearly heard it - thought I was imagining it and only realised I wasn't when I saw the massive flag. Na na na na ...

Now I know they would't let you in on that pony. I now also your feeling for me and many others on here are not positve, but to get so upset coz someone mentioned they had seen a Blades flag at the greatest festival in the world is a bit over the top. I also saw the Blades flag and think its great we have people promoting and supporting our club wherever it may be. whatever your feelings for Glastonbury the variation of people supporting our club through different events is great.
I would offer to come and give you a hug but i now you hate me, So if there is anyone out there who will give him a hug please show yourselves. Have pity life has obviously not been good to him and remember not to voice your opinion or he may smack you.;)

Fucking wank flags...! You pay all that money to see a band but all you actually get to see is two dozen poxy flags fluttering about in front of the stage, it's ridiculous. In the heyday of proper festivals like Monsters Of Rock at Donnington, such offending articles would have been inserted firmly up the jacksey of the the bearer within seconds of it's hoist...

The last couple of times I've been to the British Grand Prix there's been someone with a big Blades flag somewhere near me. Off again in a couple of weeks!

What really irks me more than the flags all over the show are those grinning trollops hoisted onto their boyfriend's shoulders for one of three reasons. To either get a better view, to totally fuck up the view of the poor shmuck behind them, or, and this seems most likely, to get their smarmy gurning face on the telly. I'm not one of nature's festival goers as the thought of spending a weekend either roasting and squashed in a crowd of smelly strangers or wet, cold and covered in mud has no appeal. But if I did go and one of those stupid, inconsiderate attention-seeking tarts decided to bugger up my view then both she and the clown who hoisted her up there would be legged up and on their arses.

Glastonbury now seems to be the antithesis of what it once stood for. How much were tickets this year? And if you buy one and can't go then you can't sell it on, because Michael Eavis and company don't want anybody other than who they say to make any money out of it. And what's with that fucking beard anyway? Are you Amish? Or Captain Ahab? No, so shave the fucking thing off or grow it properly.

Anyhow, Muse looked good on the telly, and I enjoyed the bit of Willie Nelson that I saw.

thought stevie wonder was brilliant last night

Agreed. A musical genius in the true sense who changed the face of pop music, thanks to his work in the 70s. A great bunch of musicians and singers with him too.

Many of the other acts I'd never heard of - but that's probably just my age.

Stevie Wonder .... blade or pig?

Generally the people are shoulders are a target for full pints of beer (or something worse).

What could be worse than a whole pint of John Smiths Smooth or whatever rubbish they serve up at these places...? :D

Stevie Wonder, saw about 5 mins of his act and in all that time was preaching not performing.

Changed the face of pop music? Are you being serious? I think the Glam Rock boys would be holding that mantle. SW was, and still is little more than some irritating little whiny bloke who's not bad on the piano. I doubt he'd class himself as a "pop" singer, and his work in the 70's was so memorable I can't remember any of it.

Stevie Wonder, the Nick Montgomery of the "pop" scene, talented for some, garbage for others ;)

If you listen to the majority of solo pop singers today, there's echoes of Stevie Wonder in their style. [There's hundreds of them on the X-Factor shows for instance]. He's not a 'pop singer' of course (though he had a lot of hits) but his technique of lagging behind the beat, or coming in just in front of it - plus his vocal embellishments - are now commonplace. His style owes more to jazz, but there's been so much crossover in the past few decades that we hear echoes of many influences in all kinds of music. Which is a good thing in my opinion.

There was an excellent 4-part series on Channel 4 a couple of years ago by Howard Goodall. He demonstrated the influence of Stevie Wonder on current pop stars pretty conclusively.
