We're nearly towards the end of June... no signings and only a sketchy pre-season plan in place. We don't know where we're going to be playing next season and we have a manager that few wanted in the position. There seems to be no new signings on the horizon...

Before the car broke yesterday, we drove past the McCain Stadium... the former home of Scarborough Football Club... the gates locked for the foreseeable future.

Whichever way you look at things, it could be a lot worse.

We have a Chairman and board willing to fight for his club and build sensibly for the Blades' future.

Whatever the result of the arbitration, we're guaranteed football in either of the top two leagues in the country.

We have the bulk of the squad which took us into the Premiership, and barring any more departures, have only added quality to it. Rob Hulse, Matt Kilgallon, Claude Davis... all proven Championship players.

So Blades, glass half empty or glass half full?

Well my real glass is usually heading for the empty mark but as a long suffering Blade I'd have to say half full where United are concerned.

:)

Regardless of the rather stagnant state ofaffairs, i fully expect an exciting and eventful couple of weeks to follow this one.

My glass is brimming over with enthusiasm and i cannot wait for the start of the new season, saturdays without football are like christmas without pressies.

The default setting for most supporters is half full. They always hope for positive outcomes for their club. I'm optimistic :)

However, this has to be tempered with the default Yorkshire setting. Which is 'Sod whether t'glass is full or empty, who's payin'??' :D :D

It's bad enough being an optimist, to be blind as well would be partricularly unpleasant...

We're born pessimists.

You sound like my Nannan :D

Every summer for 50 years, she's said she isn't going to waste her money any more by getting another season ticket... yet every year she still does!

So... the ratio of optimists to pessimists suggests we have a mainly positive bunch around here?
