...but unless you take your chances, you will be punished at Premier League level. We take one of those chances in the first half, we win this game by half time. Ultimately a couple of lucky-ish breaks for them and decent finishing won them the game. Hendo should have done better at his near post for their first goal and has been off the boil IMHO since the restart.

We looked to be running on empty in the second half and clearly don’t have the squad to ring the changes. That’s inevitable for any newly promoted side. Leon Clarke and Zivko shouldn’t be near the pitch at this level.

We need to bring in another striker, a midfielder and bolster the squad. Do that and I think we can cement ourselves as a mid table force and look to go for a Cup win. If Wilder gets better out of the squad then he remains a miracle worker in my eyes.

Enjoy the summer, look back in pride and UTB

Sorry I don't get this running on empty. They are professionals playing 180 minutes in 7 days for what 6-7 weeks.

How about getting to work for 6am, with just a 30 minute break before finishing at 2pm & then doing the same for the next 5 days, or working 12 hours for the NHS or other organisations. Then come home & cook for 3 kids & take them to scouts etc!!!

Thought we were poor for the last 3 games in every area of the pitch, no fight or energy, & players who have played above what we expected last August played well below their previous high standards.

AV & Bournemouth seemed to find the energy in these last few games, no excuse of running on empty, or just tired out after working for 7 weeks, poor lambs!!

No doubt that missing good chances [which we do not create enough of] is & was today, costly, particularly as the defence had another poor day [3rd time in 10 we have conceded 3], particularly against a team with Ings & Adams, who are everything that we lack in attack.

Overall its been a great season & thankfully we were not in that melee at the bottom, but lets be honest its been a bit tainted by the loss of 6 games out of the last 11, & in particular some awful performances, probably 3 of the worst 4 all season [NU at home being the other]. They have overachieved & the manager has been brilliant, lets give praise when its due, but not hide behind silly excuses.

And don't use the running on empty excuse.

Why in earth do you compare a sport to someone who works an office job? It’s a laughable comparison. Do you boo substitutes because they didn’t do an 8 hour stint sat at a desk with only one break for tea & biscuits? ;)

We’ve got a small squad, we play a style which relies on us giving the absolute maximum in terms of physical effort & intensity and the players look exhausted. Some of our players have appeared in every single league game this season, the drop off in quality is there for all to see when we have to make changes. It’s not a matter of that being an excuse, it’s a realistic and valid observation.

The players deserve more than the benefit of the doubt due to their outstanding efforts for the last three years.

You do 8 hours in a steel works chum, not in an office! Although the tea & biscuits are the same!

So have others clubs players not played in every game? How is it they can do it, but we can't? How many have played every game in all reality? Bash & both full backs maybe, & Norwood possibly?

I get your point, but I think it is an excuse & a poor one.

Come next season I can see the same reasoning coming out about small squad & short season break. But then it might be closer to the truth unfortunately.

Because we press with an intensity that no other team does. We have less possession than pretty much every team in the league, thus have to do far more to get the thing back.

The comparison with working in a factory is laughable.

So, if you're regular doing 40 hours in a steelworks, then step up on to 60 hours, would you not see any effect?

OP is right. We've stretched everything out of our core team. Beyond what anyone expected. Since lockdown, they have felt the schedule more.
We need to strengthen, no doubt, and a finisher will be a game changer.

A cup win !! In the last 25 years 2 sides outside Chelsea, Liverpool, arsenal, man utd and city , have won the FA Cup that's Wigan and Portsmouth and in the last 15 years 2 teams outside the top 6 have won league cup Swansea and Birmingham and city have won 4 on the bounce, this year's cup finalists won't break that tradition, money and squads in this league win things as much as we would love to believe the fairytale , 9th in league and cup quarters is it

Yes but no more than anyone else on the same shift pattern. Too many on here who have been warming chairs all their working [or unemployed] lives! God job the points were not really important over last 3 games, oh & Burnley lost as well!
