(a) Did anyone seriously expect we could compete with that for Dack?
(b) If he were our player what would we have done faced with that offer? Sold for £1.2 mill I would guess.

I don't like to beat my club like John Cleese beating his old car but sometimes I wish we had the balls of these "smaller clubs".

Contradiction.

Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh has insisted that Bradley Dack has no interest in joining Bristol City.

The Championship club have had three bids for the 22-year-old Gills midfielder rejected.

And Edinburgh told BBC Radio Kent: "I spoke to Bradley and he made it quite clear he didn't feel that Bristol was the right move for him at this present time, which I was delighted with.

"He just wants to have success here with Gillingham right now."

According to local gossip down here Gills have set a valuation of 4 Million on Dak so that probably means 2.5 with add ons.
Rumoured that Reading are involved.

Course he does! Until a proper valuation is arrived at with appropriate compensation for image rights, signing on fees, agents fees and maybe to the club he really wants to go to. Oh sometimes I despair at the naivety.

Oh sometimes I despair at the...lazy cynicism. But not for long.

Could've got him for well under a million - just after receiving plenty more than that from the Murphy sale. But that's just not the sort of thing we do is it. We prefer the 'dead money' alternative that old, slow Championship drop outs offer.

Dack probably thinks Bristol City are getting relegated so no point. If one of the top 6 came in for him he will quickly change his mind I reckon

That's what he is after and good luck to him. Even mid table with prospects for the right deal would take him away from Gillingham. I suspect there is one club other than Bristol who will"pounce", but they will pay a proper price. Gillingham know what he is worth.
