Gillespie almost went to Watford

Keith Gillespie was sought after by Aidy Boothroyd over the summer, but chose to stay with Bryan Robson.

Keith Gillespie has revealed how he was once a target for Aidy Boothroyd.

" I didn't speak to Watford that much but there was interest, " said Gillespie.

" However, once Bryan took over and I knew he was keen to keep me, it was a no-brainer.

" I worked with Bryan as a young player at Manchester United and I also failed a medical when he wanted me to join Middlesbrough a few years ago. I was a Manchester United supporter as a kid and Bryan was one of my heroes. "

Why would he of wanted to go there anyway.
