We’re all tired of hearing this from opposition fans, many of whom support nearby clubs resistant to leaving the Championship. My Forest mate was insisting last night that we’ll get relegated this season. I genuinely thought I’d misheard him at first as it was such a ridiculous thing to say. But his sole argument for believing relegation was inevitable: now we’ve (just about) played everyone once, they know how we play now and we’ll be ‘found out’. Even on the views from where the opposition are quite complimentary, there’s a belief that we can’t keep this up.

While this has grated on me for the last two or three years, I started to think that maybe they have a point. There is some truth in the idea that you can have a better idea of how to tackle an opponent after having faced them previously.

After a year in the Championship we came back stronger in the second season. After having played everyone once in that second season, we then went on an unstoppable march to promotion after Christmas.

So far this season our preparation will have been based on watching hours and hours of videos, scouting, and our management attending the odd game when they’ve been able. The same will be true of the opposition’s preparation to face us. So far we have demonstrated that we aren’t just good at our preparation, we are significantly better than most, if not all, of the league at this.

If there is an advantage to be gained by having faced an opponent directly, before the return fixture, I would think that the team that is clearly better at their preparation is better positioned to leverage that advantage. In two of three Wilder seasons we found extra gears in the second half of the season and romped to promotion; the anomalous second season can be attributed to an untimely Paul Coutts broken leg without adequate cover.

Now we’re in a position to have ‘found out’ the rest of the Premier League, we’re only going to get better.

It's not like we are using witchcraft. Talented, coachable players who really give a shit. A manager who understands how to set his teams up to emphasise its strengths and hide it's weaknesses.

Once these other teams start outworking and out thinking us, we may be in trouble. I've seen zero evidence of that so far. Why would all these teams suddenly start giving a shit?

We’ll probably get found out in the champions league
Only an idiot would say we are safe from relegation, likewise only an idiot would say we will go down
As for bring found out! we will have been studied very seriously by all premiership clubs , they dont leave any stone unturned..
Our results are getting better and our performances keep improving.
Yes we are not safe yet but it would need a complete collapse and under Wilder I dont see that happening

Premier League teams have armies of scouts and analysts watching every other team. They all know how we play, the problem lies in sending eleven players out to try and combat it. We've seen teams try to match us and more often than not, it hasn't worked for them. Like Wilder has said, teams will have to play very well to beat us.

Doesn't really matter, does it.......after all, it's just an opinion, and so far it's an opinion that has no basis in fact.

As for forecasting, well bring on the Gypsies and those who profess to know the future. Let the dullards and idjuts say what they want, it's meaningless waffle based on envy and an inability to accept that we're a decent side playing better than average football.........cue Garth Brooks :tumbleweed:

They better do it soon, we’ve been waiting 3 years. Gerrin boring now

We're already one step in front of teams trying to "work us out". I don't think it's a coincidence that we're getting a few from central midfield - they're all too busy trying to combat the overloads on the wings :D.

Then yesterday we had a new (to me anyway) tactic on diagonal runs, where Lunny was nearly through down the left, and i think Baldock the same that first half.

They can try working us out, but we'll just come up with new ideas :)

I don't think we'll get 'found out'. I do think there's a chance we'll tire as the season wears on. We play less games in this league but the physical and mental toll is greater.

It's insulting to us and it's insulting to opposition managers and coaches.

There's an argument about unusual systems that teams don't get to spend anywhere near as much time working on countering them that I think has merit. You play Sheffield United's 352 chaos twice a year and you're preparing against more common systems every other week. But that aside, you think managers haven't done their research on us? You think they don't scout our games, watch the replays, scour the stats, and have enough tactical nous to understand the way we work?

We weren't playing a bunch of mugs last year. We definitely aren't this year. I guarantee Potter knows more about our system and style of play than any fan or TV pundit. He still couldn't break it down. Give them some respect and say the got beaten by the better side on the day.

And give us some respect. We aren't a one trick pony mindlessly repeating the same idea. There are games we've had to graft and soak up pressure (Leeds away, WBA away, Everton away, yesterday) and there's games where we've torn teams apart with our passing (Burnley, Man U, Villa). We're good all round. That's why we smashed League One, why we beat good opposition to get here, and why we're in the top half now.

"Interesting opinion mate. Do you care to tell me exactly what has been found out and how each opponent is planning to combat it?"

....

"Errrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmm...................................."

You can't play that way in the championship they said, you will go down they said. We dropped off first season in the Champ and apparently we were found out. Then there was 2018/19 and we got proper found out. On to 2019/20 and the best players and managers in the world have clearly got our number now.

#Worried Blade here.

I think we found all of them out well before any of them found us out.

Hardly any of them have a game plan. And, by and large, they aren’t all that impressive, the standard isn’t as great as I thought it’d be.

But we’ve only ever played teams having an off day...🥳😂

Ive been impressed by the individual quality in the PL, it’s a lot higher than the Championship but having so much talent has made managers/ coaches lazy.

Also most teams use their squad of players meaning very few teams play with familiarity.

We are such a well drilled team playing to a system and it stands out a mile.
