Indeed, wages at the same level or possibly more than his counterpart at S6 who helped secure investment for a club on the brink of administration.
Add in the fact that he adds to the leadership vacuum by saying the square root of f'all to inform supporters of anything.
The lad's doing a great job.

I think it's a certainty that Parker was on less than Trev, isn't it? A man whose passion for the club shone through and who achieved a fantastic result for his club. Unlike our bloke who had very embarressingly no clue how much Ched cost, generally sounded like he couldn't care less and was going through the motions (which is fine but not a fans forum) and seemingly has no clue about the detail of the company selling a major asset to the owner.

To be fair, insolvency experts are I imagine having a field day at the moment so Trev would argue that £250k is perfectly reasonable for a business losing millions upon millions

The S2 bramall lane triangle is swallowing up cash as though it's going out of fashion, has managed to trap the biggest load of flotsam and jetsome in living memory and there appears to be no one at the helm. Here we come league 1.

At least one bit of cheery news this snowy afternoon!
S6 will not be getting any World Cup cash again to renovate the sty after this afternoons announcement!
So for all Milans followers it's down to the sty at the end of the season with pots of paint and brushes .............to brighten the place up!

The council shafted McCabe,FIFA just shafted the council. Have a vodka ,celebrate no excuse for a tax increase now.

I am not quite sure that Parker has the passion for the club that you say hea has (Read Fat Les's take on him)And as for acheived a fantastic result . I beleive that he was most fortunate that after 2 years and no success that Mandaric found him rather than He found Mandaric. As for £251K a year I think birch could earn more as a partner at the likes of P & A or Cork Gully

I see Watford's tax evading chairman has got them in talks with a mystery buyer. I wonder if ours could ring him up for some tips???

Fair comments, esp bit about Trev's earning potential. Totally agree, def going rate at least - for an insolvency expert. Running a crap second tier football club, albeit a broke one where his skills will be vital, I aint so sure he knows what he is doing - especially regards getting a feel for the what the fans are thinking.

Also agree about Milan finding Parker rather than other way round - which is my point about even the likes of Flat Bob and Duncs being able to flog a football club or anything if the buyer wants it.

I think we all may underestimate what he has learned about us in the 378 days he has been at the helm and what he has been doing to improve our standing. I am also more interested in his skills as a corporate financier than his IP skills. This would appear to be his longest time in a position since he left Chelsea lets hope it is for the right reasons.

What has he done to improve our standing?
As the most senior executive at the club, he has said virtually nothing about what's going on.
He's brought zero investment into the club and overseen assets, that were meant to make us 'special', leave the business while debt multiplies.
He's overseen the filleting of the playing staff, leaving us unable to put out a decent 11 of our own players and reliant on expensive loan players.
It didn't need any expertise to achieve any of the above.

He did try at the forum to say what was going on, unfortunately he didn't seem to have a clue.

At the time he'd not been in the business very long (Appointed end of November 09; Forum was when, March?), and I'm not sure if he was still part-time. In any case I wouldn't take his lack of being able to quote a couple of pertinent facts off the top of his head as being an indicator of his ability or competance.

Also, I dont get this sudden love-in you have over Nick Parker. You seem to be extolling him as a beacon of passion and professionalism, yet ignoring that he has (by some accounts) been running a business in insolvancy for some time, at least accepted the way that they have acquired a squad that was significantly beyond any possibility of them affording, misused the VAT and PAYE monies, only paid their share of the Childrens Hospital donations when shamed to do so, and at least accepted if not actively supported Straffords crazy business plan. Had they not been kept alive by the unwarranted intervention of the deputy prime minister, and then been struck by lightening in Mandaric, they would be firmly in Administration today if not wound up and being sold off by the official receiver.

(Regardless of the current position of SUFC) It doesn't strike me as too much to be proud of or be lauded for in that lot, unless you know different of course...

Dunc, you're right about what happened at S6.
The only contrary argument is that frankly that is simply how football operates and teams or clubs that pretend otherwise are fooling themselves.
When you have the world's governing body operating as it does, it's obvious that further down the food chain no-one else is going to give a flying about probity etc.
What's worrying about our situation is that we're where SWFC were 10 years ago, massively overspent, huge debts, assets wasted and with seemingly nowhere to go other than down.

All very true, fair points. Are you saying Clegg had a direct involvement in the situation?

Parker, like Birch is totally at the behest of the owner and any buyer with cash. Parker worked the system along with all of the wendy board possibly acting on the fringes of legality re insolvency but together they have done it and I fully expect em to be higher than us in the league by May 2012.

Appointed Nov 09. In that case he is on circa £400k per annum.

And I suppose at least Leeds and Portsmouth achieved something through their overspending and their fans have had some great times that I suspect we will never witness United have in our lifetimes..

What amazes me is that when we 'lived the dream' we hardly spent any money on players compared to the above or many prem teams. Yet somehow we end up in this mess and some seem to be re-writing history as though somehow we went mad on spending on players and are now paying the price.

Yes we made some bad decisions and wasted a lot of money on players but we need to be clear that is not the main reason for our debt. The key reasons were investments in things other than players, for which we now have nothing to show. Even Birch once admitted that transfer fees in more than balanced those going out over the last few years.

As for S6 - they're simply following the current ethos in football that anything goes if the end justifies the means. It's now ok to dive to get a penalty, it's ok to spend, spend, spend and then go into administration and then spend, spend, spend again, it's ok to play games with HMRC, it's ok to bend over backwards to try to get a corrupt World Cup.

That would certainly be disturbing if he interferred in the judicial process, but he and Blunkett were lobbying pretty hard 'behind the scenes' for their reprieve as it was reported at the time

...still little reason to see him as some kind of worthy individual in my view. We'll have to see about your prediction. If only you could be as positive about United as you are about other clubs...

Surely anyone is better than Turry.

Yep. Brilliant post.
