Get organised, play the quick passing game and we're an easy team to take points off. There were a few commenting in Shoutbox that Boro were a Premier League team, they weren't. They held their shape, had midfielders who could pass and move, and did a job on what was a pretty woeful Sheffield United for long spells.

Coops needs to see a fucking hypnotist or something because he looks terrified of the ball. O'Hare looks like he needs a break, Burrows defending is fucking shocking and wherever you looked we were underperforming. Sydie was poor but who wouldn't be with the God awful Arblaster at the side of him. I have a feeling that in five years we'll still have the apologists telling us he's coming back from a bad injury. When does that stop? He's been back weeks and he moves like me, I'm in my 60's ffs. As painful as it is to accept, he had little pace before, now he has less pace and very little stamina. Surely we have better starters than him.

Referee was appalling tonight, they fell down, rolled around and bitched all night and he fell for it every time. I have my opinion on the red card, I used to play centre half and liked a tackle so a yellow at worst for me. No one got even slightly hurt so man up for fucks sake.

Would like to see Hjelde come in for Burrows next game. He’s been so poor and can’t defend. Agree about Cooper he genuinely can’t kick the ball and his poor clearance led to their 2nd goal and adds more pressure when he boots it with no real target in mind. On to the next one, I thought we looked decent in patches - Phillips looked good when he came on.

You’re being harsh, Boro were the best team we’ve played all season and a level above anything we’ve come up against.

If we don’t start with Arblaster and don’t have a midfielder make a suicidal challenge and it’s a much better game from our point of view.

Seasons not over and there’s plenty there to work with.

That said, I agree with you about burrows his defending is a big worry and doesn’t look like it’ll ever improve

A lot went down burrows' side but in his defence he wasn't getting much help!! It's a hard game to judge him against, he was up against one of the leagues best players and often doubled up on.

Sometimes you just have to say we were beaten by a better team. We weren't woeful by any stretch. We were in it and caused issues and bamford could have had a hat trick. Let's not over exaggerated. Boro look prem bound and we're the better side either side of half time.

You needed to add another paragraph, that way you could be even more wrong in everything you said.

On the 2nd goal, Bindon had 5 yds on their goal scorer, he kept running, Bindon stood still, unchallenged header

Blaster for the 1st was passed by too easy

2 mistakes that cost us

Agree with most of the above posts. Boro were bloody slick and interchange passes at pace. We do not have the players for that. We are not far off the pace but tonight shows what you need to be top. Listening to the boro manager on Sky even he was surprised by how well boro played.
Ah well.

no disgrace in that defeat tonight boro will win the league best team thats been to the lane this season and we gave em a game and came close to snatching a draw i think if jairo had been fit we could well have got something out of that game

I actually disagree with your take on the game.

Thought we started off well and looked bright. Quickly became end to end. But we were very much in it.
We should have done better from some promising openings. Pecks half chance should be on target for instance. Unlucky with Brooks and Hamer shots.

I was really impressed though with the quick passing and movement of their midfield and attackers. Their opening goal was really well worked.

Took a bit of time but we then had two good chances of our own to equalise. Bamford really should score.

After this I thought they took full control of the 1st half and it felt like a matter of time till they got the 2nd.

2nd half we managed to contain them a bit more overall. Again early on in 2nd half Bamford timing his run to be a yard and a half forward and it's a tap in. We then huffed and puffed a bit. Phillips coming on gave us a boost and he showed some quality. Nice pass to Hamer and Hamer a great pass for Bamford and finish. We then looked the side in the ascendescy. Campbell nearly got us level and I smelt us maybe grabbing another.

Rothwell sending off stopped the momentum. But we still tried.

Overall though thought Boro were probably about the best ive seen this season especially their first half. Goals change games and they took some.
They are also bang in form, I think they will deffo do autos.

Ref wasn't awful but he is pretty gullible to a soft challenge or even a dive. Did not seem to pick up on time wasting either. Towards the end they had a goal kick and 3 throwins. The ball was in play for about 15 seconds. The time spent was over 2 minutes.
I remember thinking similar Vs Mansfield.

Weird how nobody else has managed it this season then. They're clearly very good, we played alright.

It's not just tonight though. He's too lightweight. He's weak in the challenge, bordering on being nesh and a lot of the time his positional sense is woeful. Yes, he can be good going forward when we're on top but when we're under the cosh, he can be a bit of a liability. Boy, are we missing McCallum.

Burrows gets no help from Hamer who is good on the ball but terrible off it. Whilst he puts the effort in to win the ball back he is rarely in position to plug the gap on the left side of our midfield.

💯 this
Blaster is not up to speed
Jairo starts and we control that more.
Boro streets ahead of any other team we have played to date
No shame in being beaten by a better team.

There's been a few teams managed it. Do you honestly think we've been good every game?
We've definitely not been good every game, but the only team that has passed us off the park like that this season has been Boro, especially at home.

I did enjoy the game (I think). Main takeaway though, and I think is the OP point, is that I do think we made them look as good as they looked tonight. I've seen Boro several times this season and they weren't this effective at playing around teams and with this ease. We just didn't get into them or have any organisation - the first half the gulf of space between midfield and defence was baffling, and huge gaps in the channels. I don't know where our players were in those instances, but it was constant. Most of the pressing was sprinting at them to just then be passive and leave huge space in behind, which contributed to the above. Maybe Jairo was the answer, but christ man adapt to what you are seeing - we could definitely have scored more, but it was more probable we would concede more. Don't sleepwalk into the situation we found ourselves in at half time - you could see it coming.

Played well in short spells, ref was painful, Rothwell was daft and Boro deserved the win.

I disagree, tonight wasn't the first time we've been passed round and played through. We're awful when we try to play from the back, same if we don't press and as soon as the opposition gets hold of the ball we're chasing shadows.

Boro took stock of how we were playing and changed it up. We just kept trying the same but once we lost the midfield we became a rabble. Poor management and poor from the players. Boro were very good but fucking hell we made it easy for them.

Pipe down you entitled, sensationalist bore. We've been excellent at home as of late and were by no means bad tonight. That's the best team we've played and they'll probably go up. The best team won, it happens. Fair play to them I hope they go up personally.

Who else has passed around and played through us since wilder properly got going again?

Burrows gets caught up field and Hamer isn't the fittest player to have covering left back.

When will he be ready he’s played 10 games now and looks a league 2 player let’s not forget in the 12 championship games he played up-to his injury he has very poor in 4 of them
He looks like a player lacking confidence and being asked to do too much too soon.

Boro.played an extreme high defensive line and played out religiously. Both teams pressed high.

Our press was a spectacular failure almost all of the time. A lack of hunger, mobility and some good play from them. In light of that criticising the two centre backs and the midfield is difficult. They were routinely outnumbered and on a hiding to nothing attempting to put out fires with a very leaky bucket. We could have had more numbers or different personnel but ultimately it would've been a sticking plaster on a structural issue. Fair play to the two centre backs actually. There was a lot of last second one on one stuff. Our defense vs their team. Boro also lacked ruthlessness.

At the other end there was a res behind their backline. United's fixation with playing out, and the lack of runners in behind (Bamford, O'Hare, Hamer) resulted in us not exploiting it nearly enough. Despite this I can remember eight good moments despite our shocking set pieces.A top side would've scored more and not given up so many chances to our mediocre resistance. When United took them into deep water before the red any result was possible. They were flapping and their high line looked very vulnerable.
