Doesn't seem like the most reliable account but Boro have been linked before and they're not overloaded with goalkeepers, and one of them's 37.

i wouldnt worry as ive said a few days ago at kit launch if the last few days have taught us anything ITK have been proved to talking absolute bollocks but a even a broken clock is right twice a day
 
If Mr Long wants to leave and bench warm for a few bob extra then Chris Wilder will drive him there and I'll contribute to the petrol cost

The big cheeses at Boro better not ask for advice off Baptiste about Long or the deal may be off . On the other hand he may well say it's worth taking a punt on him .

So much money floating around at the top in football , you can afford to waste some of it.

The club and Long do need a change of scenery and IMO it would be in the best interest of both , if he moved on.

Like in any job , you can be there too long were you just become a part of the furniture or when new management come in you are classed as the old guard and need changing.

Never really rated him , but if he goes good luck to him . Stop stalling and give a yes or no to Wilder.

Would have thought that Premier League 'Boro would have been more keen on Westwood from across the city than Long
Having said that, their number one, Konstantopoulos, despite being 37 is still a decent keeper and both he and Westwood would want to be considered the number 1.
I'd still think they would be after the finished article in the Prem if they think Konstantopoulos is getting to be fallible and unreliable as opposed to Long - who still has a lot to learn.

I can't see us getting Baptiste back any time soon. He said he wanted to give it a go at Boro and their manager said he wanted to keep him. Maybe in January he'll go somewhere, if he's not getting games. Personally, as good as Baptiste is, I'd rather a younger and cheaper alternative as opposed to another 30 year old and in this case a very expensive one, as good as he is. I'd prefer Aaron Pierre for example.
 

Not sure we would get baptiste, however if we could have Adam reach as compo and Harry Chapman on loan, get it done.

Boro are short on u21 and need a number 3 so George has a decision to make

then George has no decision to make.He wants 1st team football not under 21 s
 
I don't get it. I'm sure we all want a team full of home grown local lads that love the club.

The amount of time and effort, not to mention the goals against, that has been expended on long, why get shut when he becomes experienced and replace him with a 30 year old league 2 keeper?

Just looked at that.....7 career goals in 90 appearances and 3 of those were for SUFC...! I remember at the time a lot of upset people saying "same owd selling club United" but we really did have Blackburn's pants down for £1.1m..

A similar story/player in John Cofie who cost Man United £1m at the age of 14 when they nabbed him from Burnley. He has faired slightly better than Slew with 15 career goals in 69 appearances....he is now with AFC Telford.

Saw something today linking him with Burton Albion and Barnsley. Our name was mentioned also.
 
I'm really not fussed if George leaves. He doesn't fill me with any confidence. I'd be happy to start next season afresh with two new goalies and a youngster or a new keeper, Willis and a youngster.
