Looking forward to this already

"Looks like he's running in honey"
"Wish he'd buzz off"
"Wilders got a sweet spot for him"
"Honeymany/Honeymane"

Or it could just be a case of his agent trying to make up shit to try and get his client a better new deal at Sunlun (he's out of contract in the summer admittedly with a appearance triggered 1 year extension attached). Not good enough for where we are - he's not a top end championship player imo. Nothing to see here.

I would like to think that if we are near the top in January, then we can at least bring in 1 quality player like Freeman or Robinson from Preston.

This is much more likely the scenario. I doubt we are after him.

I don’t rate a player we’re probably not even chasing, after seeing him with my own eyes.
All I'm saying is, you saw him with your own eyes when he was playing in a poor Sunderland side on the decline, so any conclusions you drew from those 2 games have to be with that caveat.

We know full well, as stated with Basham and Freeman, what a difference playing in a confident team and under a new manager can do to a player. And it seems this might be the same catalyst fro Honeyman's upturn in performances.

We won't be after George Honeyman, as Stretch said above
I think the drop in quality from Championship to League One is much more likely the reason his performances have improved...

You don't half talk some rubbish.

"We won't be after George Honeyman, as Stretch said above" - Why did you start the thread then, lad?

"I think the drop in quality from Championship to League One is much more likely the reason his performances have improved.." - You've seen him play twice so how can you possibly make a grand statement like this? The performance of some of our players in League One and the Championship has shown that it's not necessarily always about the quality of the league. Chris Basham has been both a shite League One player and a good Championship player. Go figure.

Hello 'lad'.

I didn't start this thread you donut.
Why don't we sign every player who's been shite at this level and good in League One then eh? Surely 1 or 2 will be some good...

Hah, screwed up there on who started the thread. Will take the donut insult. Your second point though, that is plainly not what I'm saying, is it? I'm saying you're totally off to making a judgement having watched two matches. And you're totally off for assuming a reason why he's playing better, when you've admitted you've not seen any of these games. Ya big donut.

All i can go on is opinions this season, like everyone else because I'm doubtful anyone's seen Sunderland at all. And Sunderland fans aren't exactly overly fussed.

I apologise for not thinking every player we are rumoured to be chasing is good. I'll instead belt off if we don't sign the best player in League One now.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Wrong. I was quite interested in Honeyman with Sunderland’s precarious position and him being a young homegrown player looking to make an impact on the championship so I kept an eye out for him like I tend to with players I’m interested in. No idea how he’s doing this season but I do know he’s not playing in the position we’d have him in.

We’ve been linked with some good players this summer onwards, Honeyman isn’t one of them.

Eric, out of interest, which players are you interested in? Do you have any that you think would be worth aiming for in January that would be attainable? Just curious as you seem to take note of players and their development, in much the same way as Ricky. As i don't get to see much football in general unfortunately i always try to take note when someone mentions a player to look out for just in case it does end up with some serious interest from us. Cheers

Generally speaking I do but I’ve been enjoying watching and rewatching our games too much to see much of other leagues this year.

Going on stats and hear say I think League One has a couple of talents worth looking at in Ronan Curtis, Tom Bayliss, Tom Eaves, Marcus Browne and Ashley Hunter. Out league obviously has more but they’re considerably more pricy. Luke Freeman is top of my wish list

If I'm honest, I can't see him or any other L1 player joining in Jan. CW has tried and failed via that route last Jan and I'd be amazed if he does it again.

If Utd are still in with a shout by the end of the year, I can see CW going in for Hogan again and a attacking midfielder on loan from a Prem club, assuming that perm signings e.g. Freeman, Robinson are no-goers.
