really impressed with this kid tonight, very good on the ball, full of energy, and much better defensively on tonights showing than i had been led to believe, i'm a huge freeman fan but it's going to be a real question for wilder who gets the nod for saturday

Love Freeman for last season, but Baldock is better.
I'll be honest I've not seen much of Baldock apart from the Leicester game on TV. I expect Freeman to start on Satdeh but at the same time wouldn't mind Baldock getting the nod. Would like to get a good look at the lad at some point.

Baldock has more talent than Freeman, trickier and better on the ball but Freeman has more heart.

Freeman will have to be at his best to keep Baldock out.

We all love Freeman but if Baldock is better than he starts, simple as that. Sentiment and football are not compatible.

I expect Freeman to get the start. Nice to see a good display from Baldock and he may well pinch the spot in the first eleven as the season goes on. Really good to see Lafferty come in and be solid too.

No better or worse, let's watch them push each other and battle it out only can be good for the team.

But can Baldock be that extra striker?

He looks an excellent signing, but Freeman's got that extra bit of va-va-voom.

Whatever the case we are starting to have 2 players capable to fill every position. This is going to be critical to success as the season goes on and we get injuries/suspensions.

I genuinly don't mind which one plays. Every time Baldock plays he puts pressure on Freeman. If freeman hadn't been performing to a decent level Baldock will be in.

But with CW in charge Freeman will get a few weeks off sometimes to recouperate.

yep, Baldock was very good last night - very quick and seems a fearless tackler.

As fans, I think we are going to enjoy this fella.

So too was CCV - my MOM last night. Composed, quick, gets up well for headers and considering he is 19 yo has a tremendous future.

It's a nice problem to have.

Two top quality championship players fighting for the one shirt.

Suspect longer term this might lead to one of them leaving sadly. If so, and given known interest, Freeman is most likely to be sacrificed.

I wasn't that impressed with Baldock in possession if I'm honest. Seemed to be nervy rather than assured, but seems fairly quick.

Really didn't like his play acting, rolling around like a premier league player when he won the freekick on the edge of their box.

So you got a whack on the shins, either get up or stay down to receive treatment, don't roll around as you just look a cunt

Close call between CCV and Baldock but whoever was MOTM the understanding between those two was stunning for a first game together.

Baldock and CCV did well but Freeman and the others were only taken out of the team for rotation purposes so Wilder will restore them to the line up on Saturday. He has no basis to drop them.

In these situations, when the side is winning there's no such thing as being dropped.

Changing a winning side means nothing was wrong and changes are for other reasons. You get dropped from a losing side and it feels like punishment.

The attitudes of these players will have to be good. Because they ALL want to play, and someone has to miss out. If Wilder sticks to his principles and his word, if you do well then you stay in. And being able to do that for 5/6 game runs then making the odd change to keep players fit and sharp will maintain work rate and performances.

Is this my club? Jesus it's so good to be a fan right now....just realising where we are compared to previous years. Smile.....just a lot.

True, it was close and I saw you put GB as your MOM.

CCV just edged it for me - 19 yo and goal on debut and he stood up all night to that dirty twat Madine. In fact all of the defenders did - the ref let him lead every time with his arm - he deserves his OWN twat post !

One thing is certain - CW and pals have signed a couple of beauties.

I think it's really important that we've got 2 capable options on either side. In the system we play, the wing-backs get through an incredible amount of running and being able to swap them on a Tuesday without significantly weakening the side is brilliant.

There was one incident in the 2nd half down in the corner where we were attacking and Baldock could easily have gone down and he didn't, he battled on, so he doesn't always fall over. However, in that case, he ended up losing the ball and in his attempt to get it back, their player went down like he'd been shot and the ref blew. I can see why players might see falling over as the easy option :-)

Baldock is quicker, stronger, more skilful than Freeman. I'm trying to think of what quality that Freeman has over Baldock but I can't think of any.

Unless if Freeman starts playing poor then I think it would be unfair to drop him for Baldock

Even though Freeman was fantastic last season and has continued his form this season, i think that Baldock is the better player. Great signing

We have yet to see if Baldock can score. We know Freeman can.

Err..not for me.

Baldock.

Freeman's not been on his game much this season and Baldock looks sharper and faster.

That is all.

My statement wasn't declaring my preference of Freeman starting, but in fact who I believe Wilder will go with on Satdeh.

I feel it will be Freeman an Saturday, because he will come back stronger for the rest.
A long arduous season ahead and I am sure both will have big roles to play.

I've got quite a large concise truth be known, and I agree with you actually that Freeman will be selected ahead of Baldock. But I think Baldock will become first choice later.
