Geography of the PL

With our much-loved Yorkshire neighbours Leeds joining us in the Premier League next year, there's a nice geographical distribution of teams next season:

Yorkshire:
The Blades
Leeds

Merseyside:
Everton
Liverpool

Lancs:
MUFC
MCFC
Burnley

Midlands:
Villa
Wolves
West Brom

London:
Arsenal
Spurs
Chelsea
Wet Sham

A23:
Brighton
Palace

Lonely Souls:
Southampton
Newcastle
Leicester

Nice mix there with lots of traditionally "big clubs" and plenty of tasty rivalries.

I was thinking the rivalry on that one - I don't think the other London clubs care that much about Palace (bar Millwall). Brighton and Palace seem to really hate each other and Southampton's not that close.

Leicester need an E Midlands rival really.

Being pedantic but Manchester isn't classed as Lancashire anymore, they're Greater Manchester. The surrounding areas/other towns are Lancs.
 
Well, I've messed this right up haven't I?!

I should have called this thread a nice spread of teams with some decent rivalries because my geography is clearly lacking.

Bottom bit:
Southampton

London bit:
Arsenal

West Middle Bit:
Villa
Wolves
West Brom

East Middle Bit:
Leicester

Ye Olde Yorkshire Bit:
The Blades
Leeds

Liverpool Bit:

Grt. Manchester Bit:

MCFC

Lancashire Bit ( From 1st April 1974 - under the Local Government Act 1972):
ONLY Burnley

North East Bit:
Newcastle Utd

I always think that, the clashes we've had with them aside, if I was from down there and had to pick a London club, it'd be Palace. Spending time down there, there's decent neighbourhoods, humble roots and the club have a strong community presence, it's a lot like United and far less of a sense of entitlement and status as with the other London clubs.
 
If you separate east midlands and West then surely South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire are separate too, therefore we are lonely souls too??

Leicester is 45 minutes if that to Birmingham

I've got to ask, why Cardiff and Swansea? I can't think of one reason to put them in my ideal Premier league.
 
Southampton main rivals are Portsmouth Navy/Merchant navy. Crystle Palace hates Brighton and visa versa for some reason.we all hate Leeds.what I would like to know.who are Leeds main rival The Blades or that lot in swillsbro ?.the east midland line Sheffield to St Pancras or from Leeds.was called the championship line.
now the premiership line. Blades-Leeds-Leicester.pigs chesie derby don,t count.

Middlesborough is in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, so technically their main rival is Flamingo Land
 
Anywhere not on the stretch of the original Roman A1 (ayy wun to the dirties) can stay in the lower leagues.
1 mile equals 1,000 paces of a Roman soldier.
1 league is 3.45 miles.

There is history there from the 70s I think. Before that it was nothing

Going to be a lot tougher next season. Lost 2 very poor teams in Norwich and Bournemouth. Watford had done remarkably well to get safe then sacked their manager. Leeds should stay up. WBA could do anything.

Early days, but the 3 relegated IMO will be the Play Off winner + Villa and 1 more

Agree, but:
  • Palace are a Zaha transfer away from being relegated
  • Newcastle are a potential car crash waiting to happen if the Saudi takeover doesn't go through soon
  • Leeds could easily implode if Bielsa does what Bielsa does when he's put under too much pressure
  • Villa will struggle without Grealish and can see them axing Dean Smith if they start poorly
  • Burnley couldn't put a bench together during lockdown and Dyche might be growing impatient

My favourites for the drop would be Villa, Palace & play-off winners.

Not convinced by West Brom, Burnley, Leeds, Brighton, Newcastle.

I think we'll struggle more next season and would accept 4th bottom. However if we keep the back 5 and add quality up top, I'd give us every chance of another top half finish.
The fact we've got a plan and a good manager puts us at an advantage over 50% of the Premier League before a ball is kicked
