Got on really well whenever they'd bumped into eachother in football circles. They concocted a plan to make Blades so bad in the first half of the season that the owners triple the transfer budget, relative to if we were in the top 2 at Dec 31st.
Selles got a few very good pay cheques and some severance money, while Wilder "retained" his job and some of the dignity he'd have lost executing the first part of the plan.
Bettis obviously the only other person in on it.
