He's only trying to big the player up, how much confidence will he get from his own manager coming out and saying he's the best.

No not at all. It's just a thing called man-management, you use it to get the best out of your workforce, and by giving confidence like that, Geary's gonna get loads of it.

I hope I could manage my workforce much better than that. I guarantee Geary heard that and thought:-

"What is that tosser playing at? He's setting me up good and proper for the next few games, talk about increasing the pressure when there's no need."

If you feel the need to boost the confidence with a comment like that do it direct to the player and not go public with it. If you feel that it needs to be public praise say he's done well since he came back into the side, without the hyperbole. I know the biggest boost to his confidence would've been a quiet word saying you keep your place for the next few games if you stay fit.

He has set Del up for a big fall with that statement. Hope I never do that to my staff.

Why does he come out and say things like this?

Its like when he says he would only have Cech over Kenny, OTT to often.

And if Warnock didn't praise any players who played well then everyone would say 'why isn't he praising anyone'!
With some people NW can't win either way.

There aint many keepers that i would have over kenny either.

I don't think comments like what warnock has given would affect Geary, i don't think he's that type of player. He just gets on the pitch and gets on with his game.

Nothing wrong with praise, especially for Geary, because whilst he is no Garry Neville or Cashley Cole he has an attitude that is unbeatable.
