Damn i was hoping the news from alan was for the takeover oh well

Honestly do not see why we need a new number 1 when Wes seems to be playing so well
Depends if it’s on loan then he’s genuine competition to push wes for a year and if Wes keeps the shirt then he’ll have to have maintained a very high standard of play which can only be good for us.

If he’s shockingly available on a permanent he’s a very talented young goalkeeper and we’d be mad to pass up bringing that kind of keeper into the club even if he doesn’t take the number one short year one he’d be a great asset to have in the pipeline.

For how well he’s done this year Wes does have his deficiencies especially with the ball at his feet he got away with a few mistakes today that a better side would’ve ruthlessly punished us for that said he’s been a great shot stopper this year.

i think if we're in the championship then why not have him as 2nd fiddle, but if we're in the PL i'd hope we wouldn't go for this as one of our 2x PL loans. If it's a permanent then snap their hands off, no chance though unfortunately!

Not sure how it would benefit City to loan him somewhere he isn't a starter....

Watched him playing v the Truffle Snufflers earlier in the season at Fratton Park (was on sky). Whilst the grunters didn't really trouble Portsmouth that match he did look a very assured and capable young keeper. Thought at the time he might be one to watch and move in for quickly if he played at that standard each week. We could do a lot worse than this lad to challenge Fodz.

Doubt he would go anywhere as a number two, fodz has not let us down and subsequently it makes sense to save any monies allocated for loans and use it for guys who will make a difference in the first team.
use one of our young keepers on the bench, is Dewhurst good enough, if he is not he should be moved on

I don’t know with city maybe they operate a must start approach contractually maybe they don’t. I’d imagine united would say he has every chance to start but he’ll have to earn it if he does he’s better than Wes if he doesn’t then I’d imagine city would recall him but we’d at least have given ourselves a chance at an upgrade.

Standing still right now with regards to GK options would be disastrous. Wes has done very well but he’s not our long-term number 1 and we need competition that’s as good or better than him.

Things have to keep progressing. Simon Moore made the L1 team of the season when we went up but we still added depth with Blackman and later Henderson who both dispossessed him.

Excellent management of the GK position is pivotal for any successful team. CW got it spot on for the most part.

It would be extremely naive to take the “Wes is doing ok - leave that area alone” attitude.

I agree but we have positions that require improvement more so than the keepers.
A limited amount of money ( assuming no capital injection) has to be spent in more important areas

Spoken like a proper Blade,
Improvement is not good,
Thinking of the future is not good,
Having options in case of injuries is not good
Buying better is not good,

One average player for each position, and a pile of shit for back up.......is good

This kid looks the real deal, be great to get him on loan.

This would be a fantastic signing.

Wes has done really well this season, beyond all expectations. However you can't expect an overachieving player to continue overachieving. Long-term he remains a back-up keeper, albeit a better one than we thought he was.

I'm sure Adam Davies came here expecting to get some game time and might not be looking to extend his stay considering he hasn't had any.

A side note - Man City, Man United and Liverpool don't loan out players to continue their development, they do it to reach a peak sale value. I can't think of any players who have come through, gone out on loan, then gone back and made the first team. Bazunu might be a different case as a keeper and still very young but I think if he's available on loan to Championship clubs then he's available to buy.

Except of course in the case of Dean Henderson.
Yeah I thought about Henderson and while he's not yet a 'loan out then sell' example, he certainly hasn't made it.

2 seasons have passed since he last appeared for us and he's played only 29 games in that time, and only 3 in the last 12 months. I appreciate he was affected by covid but he's still been on the bench in 90% of games this season.

Tying him down to a daft contract while De Gea was on an even dafter contract with no possible buyers has trapped Henderson. In fact I'd say the only reason he hasn't been sold is because of the size of contract, not because he has a future at MUFC.

So yeah, it's possibly different with keepers in that the parent club might keep them longer as they generally peak later, but I don't think that undermines the rule of being available for loan = being available to buy.

I disagree. Come the end of the season we’ll only have Clean One Wes. Adam Davies’ deal will be up and after that it’s Jake Eastwood. That position is very much a priority in my opinion.

Might be worth monitoring him in the event we went up.

End of the day, there is only one keeper spot and he benefits not one jot by sitting on his Harris.

Any move would seem harsh on Wes but there isn't much room for sentiment in football.

He's done a great job as a number 1 in the Championship.

I don't think Bazuni would come if he was going to be getting splinters. His career is certainly following the trajectory of Henderson anyway though he's reached International no 1 sooner, albeit for a Nation with far less competition.

Cash in on L1Wes whlie he’s the Championships hot property and #1 keeper. £30m to Everton when they get relegated and Pickford decides hes too big for championship.

Plan 2 is same as plan 1 but substitute Burnley and Pope in above cause it’s looking likely one of them is coming down

£12m.

He was never coming here was he??

It's the sale rail in Harrods, and it's too rich for us. 😂😂

Ho hum. We've got more goalies than we can shake a stick at.
