I don't know if it is a daft idea, but i think a good way of paying tribute to Gary Speed is by changing your avatar to Gary Speed for a couple of days, it's not much, but it would be nice for everyone to make this small token gesture to the passing of Gary Speed.

RIP Gary Speed, pity it never worked out at the Blades but a testament to how much respect people had for you as i never heard one fan ask for you to be sacked. Devastated!

Keep this going. This news has stunned the footballing world. A sign of a great player and a great person.

One of the most respected and loved players we have ever seen at BDTBL .

RIP Gary ..... it was a pleasure and an honour to watch you play for our beloved club.

A very sad loss to all who respected him throughout the football world. Our thoughts are with his family.

Thought I was still dreaming when I woke up at 7am to see the news. Really gutted about this.

Nobody knows why, but we all know he was a fantastic person.

In my opinion, the most simple tribute that United and the Blades fans could go with is filling Bramall Lane for the game on Saturday and observing the silence and raising the roof for him.

SUFC could come out and say to everybody to get down the Lane on Saturday and show support and that they are willing - over the expected crowd of 10,000 - to donate profits to a charity in his name. It could either go to a depression charity or just to a worthy charity in the name of Speedo.

Simple, effective.

Giving their entire cut of the ticket money to a charity would be good.
