If we think Gary Sinclair is part of the problem.
I can live with that.
How many other clubs supporters will be en masse, debating their Stadium Announcer's attributes today?
Still, it's better than ridiculing Chicken George.
I suppose.

Nicking ideas from 6 Music, how about a half-time theme time where three songs are played and via the magic of social media, Blades have to try and make the connection?

Or allowing Blades to "curate" the half time playlist so we can hear something new?

Half time should be for small children dicking about on the pitch anyway. What happened to them massive ball things they used to run about with - that was mildly diverting.

A proper half time would have the Dagenham Girl Pipers or the Police Dog Display Team.

I used to dread Gazza going on holiday, because the bumbling pratt that always replaced him always coincided with us losing our unbeaten home record and foretold a dip in form.

Of course, that was back in the day when we had some form to dip. :)

Fans are a major part of what's wrong with United at the moment. Some just can't admit it and never will. I don't care what anyone says. George Long catches the ball to ironic cheers "we pay our money" "we're entitled to our opinion" "he's shit and needs telling" blablablabla. I recall the Tuesday game against Crewe and DCL had only just come on and did a slightly wayward touch of the ball. All it was was a slightly dodgy touch and this 'fan' jumped up behind me and screamed "FFS you're fucking SHIT!" With real anger in his voice. Sorry but that's whats part of the problem- a major part. Adkins touched on it last season and everyone lost their heads. How dare he blame the fans. Bottom line is the fans make the players nervous with their Negativity. As long fans continue to with the current attitude and denial then I guarentee United will not progress.
I completely agree.

There are times that our players must feel like Christians being thrown to the lions in the Colloseum.

Unfortunately I don't see it changing any time soon but I find it quite intriguing that the first to boo at Lane will be the first to take umbridge at being criticised on an internet forum. Obviously they believe that the players should rise above it but they them selves can't do that and shouldn't have to.

I have to say that it's not only us though, it's part of modern society and the "must have it now" culture in this country where everyone knows their rights but many are happy to abdicate their responsibilities. Arsenal were roundly booed off on Sunday after a 4-3 defeat to Liverpool, having fought back from 4-1 down. It was a great second half and should have been acknowledged as such but because the result was wrong the boos rained down. It's pathetic in my view and illustrates that a growing proportion of football supporters are nothing more than spoilt brats.

I prefer my stadium entertainers to be heard, darling.

I'd like maybe a little culture before one's team enters the field, less talking, more culture.

Maybe a little Shakespeare or a scene from any Ingmar Bergman film...

Is it possible to have a local brass/colliery band play the music that accompanies our red/white gladiators onto the battlefield?

Floral Dance? Your in the middle of Nowhere?

If it's part of modern society and across the board, then surely no team would ever win anything?

I reckon it's a big part of why Leicester won the Premiership last season and are likely to get relegated this season.

Last season, no expectation and positivity all around.

This season ridiculously raised expectation based on a one season wonder, a change in atmosphere, and almost inevitable failure.

Happy people are generally successful people.

Every club in England has fans that boo players even early in the game.

I suppose the numbers that boo and the depth of vitriol displayed is pretty much in proportion to how the fan's expectations are being met, and in the case of Arsenal in the Premiership and us in Leage One it's not bring met at all right now.

But one thing is for sure, booing and jeering during a game only serves to make the person booing feel better. It rarely helps the players on the pitch turn their game around, in fact it usually makes them play even worse or just hide.

The reason why Leicester won't win the PL again is because of the fans?

Expectation is rapidly taking over from money as the root of all evil.

My feeling is that too many people are discontented with their own lives due to their personal expectations being unrealistically high, and unfortunately they tend to relieve their tensions by taking it out on others who they feel are spoiling their lives and denting their personal satisfaction levels.

Fortunately I have always set myself realistic life goals, take personal responsibility for the things that don't go to plan and don't get wound about things I can't influence so I'm a very happy clapper with high levels of personal satisfaction and no need to take frustrations out on football players if my day isn't going to plan.

Some people on here should try it, it's a great life and my stress levels are not even off the floor yet.

No, because they're not good enough, as they weren't last season but they got on a good run and the feeling of positivity just grew and grew and drove them to it.

They won't have that advantage this year because expectation will be so much higher.

Gary Sinclair is part of the matchday furniture for me and the Lane will lose a lot of its identity when he retires. Careful what you wish for.

My worry is that the bloke from Hallam FM who shared announcing duties at Pesch's charity match in the summer is being groomed as his replacement. Ritchie something-or-other, apparently a Blade but has a voice like Ray Von's higher-pitched brother.

I yearn to see cars being driven slowly around the pitch with their hazards on

I was critical of the club and Sinclair in the report. Maybe i was a bit strong but club lets itself down.

What I would say is Sinclair is a good PA. Clear voice, articulates himself well and knows the club. He mostly does a good job and when we have seen a replacement we have seen how poor they are in comparison.

However he has become a bit cliche over the years. His comments imploring crowd to get behind the team are cringeworthy.

As others have said he rarely reads the team out or gives half time scores - he also does not announce scorers in the game for the opponent and only does it now and again for us - one thing that may grate when an opponent scores is knowing who scored but I like to know but he only does it for the home side?

Announcing scorers/scorers/teams are kind of his job but he becomes too wrapped up in trying to be funny/make digs at Wednesday. He has become a bit of a parody of himself,

I cannot forget when he brought out that Gaz Band/Tom Hark song and played it to death. Supporters did not want it after 2/3 years of it (novelty had worn off) so the club stopped playing it. Then they gradually snook it in at every opportunity even if it was just not a regular thing.

With regards the music, it does annoy me

We had the vote for entrance music a few times with Sham 69/Star Wars both coming out on top. I would rather we did not come out too anything but if we are then surely let the fans decide. Seems ridiculous that we have one guy (assuming Sinclair decides) who picks the entrance song, pre/half time music

I think United miss a trick and could use social media more to see what fans want?

Whisper it but our rivals come out to Waterfront by Simple Minds and have done for a long time. A great tune. Still we have an anthem that is known nationally. They don't..

Personally I think we should have a pre match of numerous Sheffield based songs. Granted some have Weds connection but playing some of best of Artic Monkeys, Pulp, Def Leppard, Beautiful South/Housemartins, Joe Cocker - thought when we came out to him 'Little help from my friends' as a tribute not long after he died was a tremendous entrance the other season.

We dont even have the old favourites anymore like 'You can do Magic', 'Ilkely Moor' or 'Rose Garden'. They should be belted out most pre matches to get the crowd going and invoke memories. Maybe a bit samey having a routine of songs but we have it anyway with that irritating Da Hool song and other dance songs still oddly played (very 1990's).

We ought to have an uplifting Sheffield based song as they come out with United links. Not sure which one but again you could put it to a vote? Decent song Club Foot but nothing to do with the City or sheffield. Still like most things (the phone music when you ring for tickets) they will keep playing it now every week. Sinclair can be stubborn like that sadly.

I see these fans liaison officers going round at half time by the way - what do they actually do. I saw one woman in the South Stand with a pen and clipboard. She walked up and down the stand, did not write anything and certainly did not liaise talking to noone. Surely they should be canvassing opinion on things like this or the facilities?

At full time we ought to have one clear celebratory song for me too.

I have always liked Happy Hour by the Housemartins and with the Blades connections think it should be played at full time when we win - we have done this a few times but would have it as the full time whistle goes and players leave the pitch (bit like Man City have an Oasis track, Arsenal have Move on Up by Curtis Mayfield and Chelsea have One Step Beyond by Madness). Make it our victory cigar type song!

As an aside the work on the scoreboard seems to be putting some gaps between the fonts. They also dont seem to bother with the screen at all. they may aswell just switch it off. The graphics are poor and they don;t show replays. They did put the tribute up for John Hope which was nice. It does work but they dont seem to want to use it? Why I am not sure. It has the same adidas/Maggie Mays advert rotating and then when they show teams etc you can barely read it.

Rant over. Thank god we don;t have team to moan about.

Is the Da Hool track the one with no lyrics and the really annoying 90's drum beat? Always feels like it's on for about 20 minutes every home game and is even more frustrating and uninteresting than the game itself!

So yes, probably. Or it could be:-

Absolutely BANG ON! It is a modern day mentality that won't go away anytime soon. If anything it'll get worse!

This deserves more likes than the Morsy thread has pages! Bang on pal!

Gazza? You're one of those two ass bumping blokes on the Maggie Mays ad aren't you?

Criticism of Sinclair is a clear example of the behaviour that needs eradicating for us to progress. Cue the denial.

Cue the denial? Cue the denial that criticising the stadium announcer has to stop before we can move forward?? You bet. Never read such rubbish in my life.

I have no problem with Sinclair, don't really notice him to be honest, too busy talking pre kick off and down the back of the Kop at half time. Don't give a shiny shite if people do have a problem with him though, as it will cost us the sum total of sweet fuck all in both points and performance.
Pre match music choice? Not bothered thanks. Goal celebration music/flag waving? Never even notice it (probably would if we'd scored a consolation at 0-4 and it started up though).

The ONE thing that does piss me off these days is the complete lack of scores update on the, not very aptly named, scoreboard. Although sitting near a dick head who spends the entire match on his mobile relating how everyone else is doing does get around this issue.

Must dash, got to get down early and give GS a round of "fuck offs" prior to kick off.

I do not understand the sniping and nastiness directed towards Gary Sinclair.

He's been a fixture at United for years, is a Blade through and through and has an actual personality, unlike most boring bastards at other clubs.

Therein lies the problem, perhaps.

Anybody from Sheffield with some sort of public profile is almost automatically disliked by the natives. Tall Poppy Syndrome at its finest.

Billy, Warnock, Wilder, all got turned on very quickly when things weren't going well. If Dane Whitehouse had had a longer career, he probably would've copped for it as well. Never heard anybody from Sheffield have a kind word for Sean Bean either.

The locals don't forgive you for being a success. Because many of them are bitter, jealous troglodytes who have achieved fuck all in life.

People from most towns celebrate their local figures. Not in Sheffield though, we're......special.

I get your point but it’s a case of idiots shouting the loudest.
