With us continuing to have problems at the left back position (barring a few games that the classy looking Kalio played) I wondered if anyone knew how Naysmith was progressing?

I gather he was starting light training at a similar time to Williamson and Geary but haven't heard anything for a while. If we could get him fit and up to speed in the next couple of month then it would be a major boost. A back four of Walker, Morgs, Killa and Naysmith is a very solid looking one.

I don't know that much but he was on the bench vs Preston (didnt come on), so he cant be that far away.

Yeah he has been on the bench lately so I guess he is nearing full fitness and should get into the team soon as Taylor and Stewart are shite.

I guess it would make sense to give him a run out against QPR next week if that is the case. I am a bit mythed as to why Blackwell didn't give starts to fringe (or guys coming back from injury) players such as Reid, France, Naysmith and Little in the first FA cup game.

Somebody mentioned on another post that a back four of walker, Morgs, Killa and Naysmith is probably the best in the league. The sooner the better for me as Taylor is not up to it and Blackwell seems intent on playing Stewart in different positions. Kalio looked very classy from what I saw of him, but as he's been making the bench for Fulham 9since he went back) then I doubt we'llsee him back at the Lane.

Not just solid but used to playing with each other i think he could make a big difference

Sheffield United's Gary Naysmith comeback delayed

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell hopes defender Gary Naysmith will be available for selection in two weeks.

The 31-year-old Scottish international has not played since April after suffering cruciate ligament damage.

"He's close to full fitness, it's just match practice now and unfortunately at the moment we can't get any games in," Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"I would think with in the next two to three weeks he will be playing, if we can get the games in before then."

The Blades' Championship clash against Watford was called off on Saturday for safety reasons.
