From our last outing in the premiership I’ve disliked him for one comment.

After summing up one of our games, he said Sheffield United NGE - not good enough. He then sat back with a smug smile on his pudgy face as if he’d made the most profound comment ever.
 

Apparently he's a "football expert "! He did refer to us once as "United ", but that's one positive in a very long pundit career as a total tosser. Do any of these idiots actually watch us play? Are the younger ones brainwashed by Crooks etc to believe we play physical long ball, despite the evidence in front of their own eyes, and the fact that we haven't really played like that for years (well before the Messiah arrived-we were crap but not particularly long ball)? It would be good just for our amazing progress over a pretty short space of time to be recognised, but they don't even do that, they're so busy tossing off over the top 6, or the huge achievements of Villa and Norwich. Twats, the lot of 'em!!

Sadly you'll always be up against that bias from pundits that prefer watching the top 6 and think the rest of the league are irrelevant. I don't mind that though as we'll prove them wrong this season I've no doubt about that. Majority of pundits just don't realise how good Wilder is or the team he's assembled.

Yeah, it’s frustrating at times, but another perfect example after we equalised:

“So disappointing for Chelsea and Frank Lampard”

Seriously? What about how good and Fully deserved it was for the Blades

Possibly because she's googled 'Sheffield', looked at this town up near Manchester and Leeds, recognised the Meadow Hall (sic) and The Full Monty, browsed the pigs first (because she thinks it's those cunts in the Prem) can't find Chrissie Waddel (except for the pub he's always in at Dore), discovered the truth, back to the Meadow Hall, quick clip on YT of the dole queue sketch, ooooh ... Sean Bean ... Meadow Hall ... M&S ... Next ... New Look ... M&S ... hang on, 'football'. Sheffield Wednesday ... they must be in the PL ... nope ... the other team ... Sheffield FC ....

After an hour of brainless websurfing and texting Steph Houghton and Lucy Bronze, she finds the SUFC website and realises it's actually us who are up in the top flight. She then texts round and gets the lowdown from other 'pundits', like Garth Crooks, namely the manager Harry Warnock is a lifelong Wednes ... United fan and used to be a programme seller. He's built his side on players given to him by Brian Clough and Kevin Blackman (who used to be a goalkeeper last season for United). Warnock has got a big, physical side full of six footers who are tough, uncompromising, competitive and physical and not afraid to put a foot in the tackle. They also are proponents of the long ball game and boot it long, straight onto the head of new signing Billy McDearden, on his third stint at Hillsborough. He used to be a United fan too but plays for Scotland. Garth doesn't reckon Sheffield will survive this season and will be relegated by October, so she's gonna say the same, because he's a black bloke, like her.

It's mostly because their audience is practically all (people who call themselves) Chelsea fans. Global reach and all that.

With Sky and BT they try to be careful not to piss off fans of the non-global clubs because, well, they've got subscribers, but there's no such requirement if you're broadcasting for Bein Sports where my feed was coming from.

As for Tony Gale, I know there have been comments that he was alright, but it was of the the ah-bless-look-at-them-having-a-go variety. At one point he said - they put a few passes together there, and they might start to believe they belong at this level. Patronising guff.

I don't care if pundits think we're shite. Say so and explain why you think so. We can then ram your words right back in your face later if necessary.

As for Garth Crooks. Someone please show me anyone who thinks the guy has ever said anything even remotely insightful. Scratch that, someone who thinks that something he's ever said has not been completely idiotic. To make it interesting you can't mention whoever is head of BBC Sport, or Garth Crooks.

I dont think i could disagree more. He was realistic and praised us when we did well. He critisised us when we should have been, the goals and when our corner ended up back with the keeper. He praised us plenty too, throughout the game. Especially on our tactics. He has never been my favourite, however he showed some understaning of us as a club and a team.

If only he called us Sheffield United, not Sheffield.:rolleyes:
 

Garth Crooks talks like he used to work at NASA. Plus he looks like a gonad with all that weight he’s carrying. Tony Gale is also getting right on my tits with his co commentary. Sheffield have done this, Sheffield have done that. SHEFFIELD UNITED you cockney wanker.

The commentator was pretty neutral, but I thought Gayle could’ve been more neutral

Was about to say the same thing myself. His colour is the only thing keeping him in a job. In my opinion it’s a disgrace, if the BBC want more black pundits that’s fine but they could and should be doing a damn sight better than Crooks. I’m sick of my license fee being wasted on people like him. Piss poor, lazy journalism. He’s entitled to have an opinion and to criticise but I’ll bet he’s seen nothing of us since we were last in the premier league 12 years ago. His opinions, like Danny Mills’, are based purely on lazy stereotypes. Clueless.

It’s clearly not that.
As you say there are a lot of black ex-pro’s that they could call on and I’d wager that at least 98% of them would have a better grasp of the game than Crooks.
Even Dalian Atkinson would, and he’s been dead a couple of years now.

I reckon he’s still there because he’s cheap. Been there for ages and, like an apprentice who never moved on, he’s on absolute peanuts
That also explains why none of his clothes fit.

If ever I have the misfortune to be sat watching the beeb live score program and Gorgeous Garth pipes up with his inane incoherent ramblings and general entitled bollox, I use it as an excuse to go for a piss / put the kettle on /discuss what we are having to eat later for tea, etc etc. He is as relevant as a right shit and boring advertisement on the cinema big screen 20 kins before the film starts. No one is really listening.

He is just a bellend.
