Game off

It’s an early kick off and cold as fuck. Really deep frost so the undersoil heating probably isn’t powerful enough - it doesn’t cook the soil! 😂
You're genuinely crackers. It should've been on overnight. Leeds have got the game on and it's colder than Sheffield

I said earlier in the season there's an area of the pitch that was causing concern. Not sure if its same area that is the reason but there a patch just outside the penalty area at the Bramall Lane end. If you look at match on NYD you can see it.

The referee was then called in at the earliest possible opportunity to assess the playing surface. After he arranged an inspection, he deemed there to be a player safety concern, and opted to call off the fixture at 10am.
Thats the equivalent of me looking out of the window this time of year and seeing about a centimeter of snow and calling work telling em I'm not coming in

Must be very annoying! (I predict he'd have spelt Bramall Lane wrong).

Don’t feel sorry for the Oxford fans. They’ve got a steady few hours of boozing ahead of them.

Reminds me of Peterborough and Leyton Orient away 15 years ish ago, both called off just after I’d arrived.

Also seeing heavy use of the word “Tinpot”. Possibly the most annoying phrase in football after “bang average” and “baller”.

Erm... its not even bad. I don't get it. I was on my way walking down to the Lane ffs just got the message.

Pathetic United.

It was a stupid kick off time anyway. Why were we even playing on a Sunday anyway?

Because everyone played on NYD

Obviously waiting for the owners to get the 50m worth of new talent in before we play games.

Anyone remember when we played Crewe Alexandra in 2006 at the Lane? We managed to play a game on a snow and ice covered pitch back then. What's changed in 20 years?

Remember us playing Scunthorpe a few years later on Boxing Day. Well below freezing and didn’t seem to be an issue back then either.

Could they not put cones and tape around it and just play around it? Then, if the ball were to become 'frost fast' in the middle of it, the referee would halt play whilst a grown up, wearing crampons and carrying an ice axe, runs on to the pitch to retrieve it. A drop ball is then given at the nearest safe area. It's not rocket science for crying out loud!
