Guess that will be expensive. Lost tickets for midweek fixtures, catering, hospitality and I wonder if Sky fine? A bit too amateurish for me!

Wasn't the pitch relayed in the summer, surely the under soil heating would be checked then

Only reasonable explanation would be that they switched the heating off Thursday after the match, then the pitch froze over into Friday morning and they haven't been able to get it on since without risk of a burst pipe

Due to a frozen pitch.

What the fuck have we been doing with our undersoil heating all night? How incredibly tinpot and pathetic 😂

Penny pinching United at it again.

Least we won't have to endure the cold!
What a rediculous comment , it is obviously a technical failure , were all pissed of but things do break down or fail from time to time

Very tinpot considering Sunday League matches in the higher colder parts of Sheffield are still going ahead. On pitches with no heating whatsoever. I think that is just hilarious.

It’s an early kick off and cold as fuck. Really deep frost so the undersoil heating probably isn’t powerful enough - it doesn’t cook the soil! 😂
Only game in the Prem and Championship called off is ours??
Couldn't they have covered it AND turned on the heating? Really poor and amateurish this.

Obviously we are skint and can't afford to put the heating on. Only Sheffield Utd could find new American owners without a cent to scratch their arses with, Phuck my life!

The three Sheffield leagues have no fixtures scheduled for today. Appreciate Rotherham Sunday League does and it does have some Sheffield clubs in it but virtually all those games have been confirmed as postponed.

Possible but how come every other Championship club and Premiership clubs under soil heating has managed to cope some even kicking off at the same time as us.
Maybe we bought the TEMU version of under soil heating.
Lets be honest it is very Tinpot.

Club statement.

The referee was called to Bramall Lane this morning with parts of the playing surface frozen and following an inspection he has taken the decision to call off the fixture due to concerns over player safety.

An announcement regarding a rearranged date will be confirmed in due course.

Officials at Sheffield United are extremely disappointed the fixture could not go ahead.

In the build up to the game, our pre-match procedures for forecasted low temperatures were followed, which included the use of our undersoil heating system.

This morning a small section of the playing surface was raised as a cause for concern. With this area still part frozen, all attempts were made to address this section of the pitch for it to meet the standard required for the match to go ahead.

The referee was then called in at the earliest possible opportunity to assess the playing surface. After he arranged an inspection, he deemed there to be a player safety concern, and opted to call off the fixture at 10am.

It was the wrong sort of frost.

My son plays in Sheffield Sunday League and their match has just kicked off, like at this moment.
