The mexican stall outside the Sentinel always smells good, never tried it but with many beers at £3 its hard to beat. Don't do all that other greasy stodgy muck, would rather have decent sarny and drink beer and watch utd for many more years than be in a wooden box soonish.

Cath the 'old' owner sold it and moved back to Devon to escape her Ex.

Still owned by The Admiral, problem is they had no customers apart from match days.

Nigel who used to run it for them caught the bus from Rotherham..

The girl who used to serve left and the new 'girl' was having a fag by the back door when the wind blew it shut she fell on the ground and is suing the owners - where there is a gold taxi - there is a claim. Probably a pig fan..

Maybe I should take it on as I used to run a chippy when I should have been revising in the sixth form.

Broomhill Friery after one at Banner Cross.

Great stuff this Tom! This is like the Chip 'Ole version of the Archers. An everyday tale of fishy folk!
Which reminds me...last time I was in there I noticed that the spotty lad who used to butter the baps and make the fish batter wasn't there. I said where's young lad then? Lass who owns it said..'Oh I had to let him go - he kept putting his knob in the potato chipper'. 'Ouch I said, what happened to the potato chipper?' 'Oh, I had to sack her an' all' she replied.
Ta dum.....tish.

My nearest chippy since I've moved.

Any good? I used to go at lunchtimes when I was at King Ted's but that's pushing 15 years ago now...
I only ever go in when I roll back late after an away game and it's ok then. Worth a visit to watch the clips of Sean Bean from behind the counter.

Nibbles on Glossop Road for a pizza is the preferred drunk food choice, depending on the time.

Round the corner from me. I'm on Ashgate Road. A Sheffield institution is Nibbles. Do they take cards? I've been many times in my younger years but I've no idea if they've caught up to the 21st century (and I don't carry cash).

You're a stones throw from me then .

No card unfortunately (neither do the chippy).

Absolutely! Their takeaway on Pinstone Street and cantina on Arundel Street are even better, but a bit further away. Sentinel is under new ownership, expecting the £3 a pint to end when new owners get cracking. When it first opened, the American IPA was £6 a pint!!!! Hoping we don't return to that.
It may not be on most people's way to the ground, technically it's on mine, but Shaw's chip shop in Dodworth (I know, it's in Barnsley, gerrovver it!!), is fantastic and one of the best I've ever been in. There's a permanent queue, Cannon Hall (the farm, not the long closed dodgy pub at Fir Vale!) pies and sausages, and Sheffield fish cakes (known as a fish scallop up here). Personally I prefer some liquid refreshment pre-match!
