What a steaming load of bollocks.

Even if you play more than just a 'kick around in the park', the level you play at is vastly different to the level professionals play at. If any footballer could adapt to any role, there wouldn't be even nearly as many problems in getting players in for specific roles, and injuries wouldn't matter as you could just replace them with someone else from the squad.

Players have favoured positions that play to their strengths and skills, and to say that any player can play in any position is just rubbish.

And thats bollocks too.

A team pays you thousands of pounds a week, and the manager says to you, being a defender, i want you up front this week. You don't turn round and say I can't because im a defender. You get on with it and you adapt. Morgan could do a decent job winning the ball up front and give it his all, why can't others? it may just be for one game, but the can adapt to a different role?

Or am i imagining things such as geary a defender playing at both full back and as a winger, and armstrong playing left back and then center mid.

Players have favoured places, dosen't mean there the best position for them. the manager picks not them.

That's completely different to what I was saying.

Players have played out of position - I believe that Rob Hulse was deployed at right back in the past - but it doesn't mean that they're going to be any good there, does it? Also, not every player can be a jack of all trades, otherwise why would managers look to buy specific positions? They could just buy anyone and play them there.

Just because a player can fill in in a certain role doesn't mean they're good at it, nor does it mean that they should do. And when I said 'favoured positions', I didn't just mean the ones that they like - I meant the ones that they can fill successfully. The manager should be able to identify this, if he's any good.

Of course, this may all be different at the level at which you play, but that doesn't mean that it's the same in professional football.

so iv said about players playing in different positions, yet you called it aload of bollocks and put something similar about players filling in!

Hulse started off as RB and changed to a striker.

I didn't state that every player can do well in the positions they are played, i said they still should put the effort in.

Geary can fill in at left back and he's good there as he is right back. so it is possible.

So geary can do it, armstonge, halford, hulse, webber, even BT has been seen defending, but its all different them playing in different positions to me!

I don't think Geary would make a good Keeper though :D

He'd have to run up to you to cover all the angles!

As a side note, whilst disagreeing with peoples opinions... can we not go around stating the apparent fact that their opinion is "bollocks"???

It only serves to support your opinion if you don't begin with mudslinging and name calling just because someone else thinks differently.

That's just bollocks.

:D:D:D:D:D

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Not only did Derby end the drought against the mighty blades (a team so mighty they have won f**k all) Best of all Hulse's goal was a handball and should of never counted! Great stuff

For fuck's sake... Pull your head out of your arse. Saying that something is bollocks is no different from saying 'I don't agree with your opinion'. It's a figure of speech; shorthand for saying that you disagree with someone. If you want us all to speak properly and respectfully, perhaps you could start closer to home.

Mudslinging is very different from saying that you think someone is talking bollocks. I don't go in for personal attacks, and am not into mudslinging.

If you have something to say then PM me, I'm all ears. Alternatively, create me a thread in the "comments, problems and suggestions" section.

It is a statement of fact, not a disagreement in opinion. I'm possibly being picky on this one, but with the current climate and exchanging of personal insults I'm trying to make a point in the respecting of others opinions.

"What a steaming load of bollocks" is a statement of fact, not an expression of a different opinion. It doesn't particularly convey itself of a message about to discuss something in which you wish to offer an alternative view.

I know the language used isn't black and white and can be taken more than one way, but my point is that, especially in the current climate, it isn't exactly an accommodating or understanding way of putting your point across.

I'm merely trying to calm discussions down to a level where we can actually debate and put every persons opinion across without turning into an exchange of insults.

As always, if you have concerns about the way things are run, tell me, I'm all ears, I've always said that.

I'm not here to run a dictatorship nor just tell you what you say is a load of bollocks.
