I was chuffed to discover that The Pinch was shortlisted for 'Best Fan Media' at this year's Football Supporters' Association Awards 2022 (alongside the brilliant Rainbow Blades!).
We're up for a category that is decided by a public vote (Rainbow Blades are panel-judged). So yes, this is a plea for you to spare the 10 seconds it takes to vote for us in category 4: https://t.co/hIC8dOsBVl.
We've not been on the circuit for long. About seven months or thereabouts. So it was a bit of a surprise to make the shortlist, and we're up against the likes of Squareball (Leeds) and The Anfield Wrap (Liverpool), who naturally have a billion-and-one followers.
If you don't know much about what we do, then the TL;DR is: we're a newsletter that sends a good pinch of stuff to your inbox on Mondays and Fridays, and we pay every single contributor who puts pen to paper or fingers to keyboard - and we think paying people for their time is important, and perhaps different. I suspect that's why we made the shortlist despite being the caterpillar before the moth.
Loads of people on this forum have written articles, whether it's Deadbat & friend compiling and rating every loanee in Blades' history, or personal reflections on pies, peas and poverty...and on, and on. These all take time and effort. We couldn't put The Pinch out without them, and it wouldn't exist in the first place without all the kind words I got on here about the now defunct DEM Blades blog.
