Overall, the coverage of us from the national papers has been shocking. I've not seen one match report or feature on the Blades in any of the nationals - though they all feature plenty of "EPL" - five stories on Watford, six on Bournemouth - plus 'international' news like ' such as the Independent's "Swedish ultras wear niqabs to get around anti-hooligan law". What mentions I have seen of our promotion have been a couple of paragraphs as part of an "EFL Round Up"

We're a big club from a big British city and there are lots of angles for a good story. But the national media aren't bothered. Their loss.

Are we 5th or 6th in England? Not sure?

The only one without an airport or a 5 star hotel for sure.

That's the problem see? Fantastic football heritage but not even on the map - can't even get on the BBC's weather map!

Don't you start, that drives my 93 year old mother nuts she plays fuck when the weather comes on and Sheffield isn't on the map. :eek:

Hang on, we have clambered out of the third division, why the fuck would anyone outside of SUFC care. More to the point why would we care about the coverage in the national papers?

This should be in the first world issues thread. What do you want it to dislodge, the war in Syria?

I don't give a shit that the press don't cover us.

I prefer it if we don't get much media coverage. It's better if we just keep a low profile and go about our business, staying focused on the remainder of the season :)

Gary Richardson's Sport on 5 on Sunday morning did 20-25 minutes on the David Moyes "you'll get a slap" story as their "football slot". Not a mention of us.
 
Couple of decades back we would have been mentioned but now money rules football all the attention goes where the cash is and that's at the top

I note they had to give the pigs a mention. Saturday could prove the first part of a double Sheffield celebration if city rivals Pigs win promotion to the Premier League.

If it's the one I saw it had a large photo of, largely fat, pig fans presumably celebrating their winning goal against Newcastle. We were further down. Clearly, the pigs scraping back into the top 6 was considered more newsworthy than us guaranteeing promotion back to the Championship. After all, a club co-owned by, managed and captained by fans of the clu happens every day and the fact that the manager is in line for promotion in successive seasons with nearly 200 points is barely worth remarking on. Because they're MASSIVE and we're not

The Stir chose today to do a big spread on the Wembley derby, in the retro section. On today of all days.

Didn't choose to do it today. It's a section where we look back at big games around the current date, over the years. Pick a bigger game in Sheffield in early April from the past? Spread (not a 'big spread' as there's no such thing) also leads heavily on Alan Kelly's stunning performance.
Seven pages on promotion in today's paper. 21 stories online. 16-page Champions pull out in the pipeline.
