Front 2 VS Watford

I'd start Mousset as soon as he's fit enough based on what I've seen from him. After that, in spite of people worrying about missed chances, the striker that's offered by far the most to the team so far is McGoldrick.

Robinson and McBurnie have been just alright. I would never complain about Sharp getting a game.

It's our main concern at present for me.

Scoring goals at this level, or enough of them, is what often decides those who stay up.

We've played well in general and not been turned over once but we're struggling to find the net even when we fo create or get into good positions.

Pace is more important this season because we aren't going to dominate possession and push teams back as much as the last three years.

I still believe Sharp is probably our best finisher as it stands but I also think we need a pace outlet for most games. Mousset is probably the only one to fit that bill. Whether he and Billy can work together I don't honestly know.

Regards the front 2 I think the bigger question relates to the return of McGoldrick.

Wilder tends to prefer a McGoldrick for his hold up and link play, he’s the best at the club at this.
As Sharp has hardly played then can’t see him starting but he should get plenty of minutes brought on as an early sub.

Wilder tends to change as little as possible so wouldn’t surprise me if it’s McBurnie and Robinson starting again
We have 5 strikers, all at a simllair level but all with different attributes, wouldn’t complain about either of the 5 starting.

I think Wilder will persevere with McBurnie as it might be a case of his first league goal settling his confidence a bit, as with all strikers. Not sure who his partner will be.

Sharp and McGoldrick, although it would be good to see McBurnie against one of the poorer teams to see if he is any good or not.

Billy & Moussett for me, see if they can work well together. Maybe lacks a threat from crosses though

McBurnie got one against Leicester. I agree that Wilder will persevere with him though

Don’t take it for granted that Watford will be an easy game, I wouldn’t change the team from Saturday if they’re all fit, but I would have sharp on at 60 mins should we not be winning..

Watford will see saturdays game as a must win for them.. even this early on in the season..

Goldy IN.

Robinson out- he was the poorest on the pitch on Saturday. Reminds me of Scougall- Chases players down, then when he gets near slows and does nothing. Goldy though speeds up in last 5 yards and gets the ball time after time. No comparison Goldy is miles better.

In a game where we’re expecting more of the ball, I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t McG and McB.

If Billy doesn’t start given our modest goal return and weaker opponents after three games off, he can probably assume he’s not getting much football this year.

Not much to assume when he hasn't started yet.

Robbo is a winger.

He's not got the ball winning or ball retention skills to be a 10. But he might learn them in time.

But he is not currently a Prem striker , his psychology is not right for making / taking chances.
And that's harder to correct.

Robbo will come good. He showed glimpses pre-season and especially at Chelsea.

I'd go McBurnie/Sharp, with the plan to bring Mousset on after 70.

Sharp & Mousset sounds good to me - two natural scorers. McBurnie as sub.

At this Prem level :

Didsy is a 10 , not a striker ;

Robbo is presently a winger , but not a 10 - at the moment , he doesn't fit into our setup.

I think CW bought him to back up Freeman as a 10 , but he's go to learn the skills for role.

Whilst Didsy is a natural 10 (though not a natural scorer) at Prem level. He links play beautifully but missed too many chances - and he's not at the "learning stage" of his career , unlike Robbo.

Put Lunny & EITHER Fleck OR Norwood as holding MF + Freeman or Didsy as the 10 or AMF.
BEHIND Sharp & McB or Moose

Freeman's crossing pre season was exceptional, he's more of a traditional winger (imo).

Robbo will come good. He showed glimpses pre-season and especially at Chelsea.
I agree , he is young + I believe that in time he could be an excellent 10 or even wide AMF (Duffy) if he's properly developed. Don't get me wrong , I like him and he's the right age.

I would go with McBurnie and Sharp then bring Moose off the bench.

I hope Didsy will be fit enough for the bench.
