Bloody fucking brilliant. I have very rarely seen a United match where we looked in such overall control, against a side supposedly filled with better ability. We simply bossed it, and Woy and his players know it. The 1-0 score was flattering for them.

I'd like to get a clip of what Alan Smith said just before half time because it sums up what I think about the league. Sure, we're going to be in a relegation scrap, but so are about 10 other teams.

To paraphrase what Smith said:
Any Sheffield United players who haven't played in the Premier League before might have been thinking 'am I going to be good enough', well the standard isn't quite as high as they might have thought.

Not bothering with 'out of ten'. They all put in great performances.

Henderson - nowt much to do. One save, a few punches.
Baldock - tigrish and committed. Improved a great deal.
Basham - had Benteke in his sock all game. Yes. Check out that fucking statement six seasons ago..
Egan - negated anything in the air and the central rock
O'Connell - pretty fucking immense, and a definite threat. Hope you're watching, Southgate
Stevens - just 'did his job' but did it so very well.
Fleck - unfortunate to lose him, but he'll struggle to get back in given Freeman's performance
Norwood - given the showcase he now deserves. That pass to Baldock was equal to last season's one vs the slime
Lundstrum - I apologise. I see what CW sees in him now. He literally played out of his skin
Robinson - they were shit scared of his pace. Shame to lose him
McGoldrick - he has this louche, lumbering style which is nowhere near how dangerous and talented he actually is

Freeman - outstanding. graft, talent and fearlessness
McBurnie - a right fucking handful
Jags - welcome back Phil

Palace were nowhere near us today. Two comments from Sky:

"... they're a good footballing side, Sheffield United, aren't they?" Yes.They fucking well are given today's showing. Cunts like Ashley Cole - pay attention.

"Sheffield United are hanging onto what they've got." Er, no. We were not threatened all game to be honest, even when they threw everything forward to scrape a draw. Zaha was resigned to fetching and carrying (because everywhere he went, he bumped into Basham or Baldock) and anything else they had - Townsend for example - was quickly swept up. Lundstram was pretty fucking great, TBH. His workrate was typical of him but instead of being Monty, he was Michael Brown. Freeman was a classy upgrade to Fleck, and after twenty minutes was leaving Palace players spinning in the wind - just like his burst into the box for the goal.

And yes. As people have observed, everyone is talking about 'overlapping centre backs', now. How good is that?

The ref was dogshit too.

Well done United Well done the players and well done the fans.

I’m not sure they were filled with better ability. I only knew Townsend and Schlupp and they were average. Seems that Zaha and Benteke( Porter was better) were supposed to be a threat but we cancelled them out

We sat back a lot in second half but we could’ve won by more

They had an 'off day'.
;)

'Bournemouth were there for the taking today' was a comment heard after last week, failing to give us credit for making them look poor. It was the same today, we were well prepared and got things spot on tactically.

We've given away very few chances and not conceded at all from open play after 180+ minutes of Premier League football. That's a great and we're in a good position now to gradually unleash more of our attacking firepower.

Spot on Bergen, we’re “earning the right”.

Woy took their best player off! (the 7)

You have to fancy us against Leicester.

We'll have to be absolutely on it to get anything from Leicester. They are the club that we should be aiming to be in four or five years, they are miles ahead of us at the moment and have been unlucky today to have only drawn with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

I'd snatch their hand, arm, shoulder, neck and head off for a draw
