Do not select Monty again.

You are a top man, the way you spoke after Wembley was hugely impressive and our beloved club is represented by a sensible bloke. Already looking forward to watching some proper football again next term. OK we'd have all preferred to see you running towards the Huddersfield fans with aggressive gestures after a win but it didn't happen.

What I'm trying to say is that although there will always be the odd lunatic who looks at your Wendy spell and Swiss who wanted Alehouse to stay, the vast majority of Blades are happy with you in charge. The club is rotten and rotting from the top - all you have to do is provide us with a bit of entertainment and flair. McCabe has ensured the club will never dine again at the top table so all just put 11 footballers on the park who can pass and kick it straight.

But, this goodwill will evaporate quickly if Monty plays again, especially alongside Doyle. Let him concentrate on his wrestling and endurance events which he is more suited to.

Oh, and by the way sign some quick players rather than kids from Falkirk's under 14 squad.

Another bit of smoke and mirrors from Mic.

Starts off by praising Wilson, then follows up with the customary swipe at McCabe.

So predictable.

You sound just like a plastic Mafia boss....keep doing as i like, but won't b'tide you if you play that Monty again!

What exactly are you going to do, place a pair of concrete boots on him and drop him in the sea??

Monty has his faults and I do agree that it is maybe time he moved on, but if he play's i'll back him. I fully expect however if he is still here next season he won't be a starter.

Agree totally with you about Wilson otherwise though :D

im not backing Monty. il applaud if he does something good, but as far as im concerned he's not good enough to play for us, so i wont speak supportively of him. hes been rubbish for years, i just dont know how hes still there. presumably everyone else knows hes rubbish so wont buy him.

like the post tho, Danny's done a good job. but i think that defeat set us back years.

O'Halaran was quick, didn't do much else though. Signing quick players will get us know where they need to be tricky players with creative flair that we sign, as mentioned elsewhere, players like Willo, Cresswell, Quinn and Ched all looked half a yard quicker than they have before because they all showed great footwork in games. Flynn himself has looked quick in some games when he's used his tricky. Its a creative flair this team needs in several areas, if we can keep Quinn and Willo thats not a bad start, but we need to add to that flair too. Players like the lad at Stevenage would be good additions.

I think him shipping Monty out to Millwall on loan was a sign that he was no longer needed.

I would be deeply let down to see Monty in the starting 11 next season.

We might not have a choice. It isn't a given that players needed to replace him will sign for us and he is always likely to be on the bench at the very least whilst he is here

Freeman is a quick player though.

Williamson, McDonald, Doyle and Quinn was a formidable League One midfield last season. Supported by overlapping wingers in Lowton and LJF we had decent width, and Ched up front took care of the goalscoring. We simply had too much class for most of the opposition teams and were good enough to outpass them, opening them up through creative and precise passing.

Next season may be different. We may lose a few of the above and could find ourselves being unable to outpass teams in the same manner. I think it will be a lot more difficult to get by without pace then.

Alternatively you could view it as he was wanted in a division higher than us. Either way, I think his time has passed. It's just a shame that all the professional managers like Mic and Pinchy never had a chance to manage United, what with them being such highly respected football managers that obviously know much more than the managers United have had who picked Monty to play. Probably too busy being Pep Guardiola and Lord Ferg.

Yes Shoreham, and these pathetic jokes of managers have seen us settle in the 3rd division. Clappers like you lured the idiot Birch and McCabe into believing Monty was the heartbeat of the club. Well the club has a barely detectible heart-beat at the moment and your hero Monty is well and truly in the thick of all the things that are wrong with SUFC.

I'm not a clapper, and I have said several times that I would be perfectly happy to see Monty replaced. Neither am I a smart arsed repetitive arsehole who believes that they can formulate the thought patterns of others. I haven't lured anyone into anything with regards to Sheffield United - McCabe has never sought my personal opinion.

I like a good moan about United along with the rest of us, it's just that I don't get a hard-on from constantly telling the world how I know best, and how I know what others think.

We are all well aware that you don't like Monty. Please don't confuse this with us thinking that you know best about everything else.

Oh, I don't know about that ;-)
Well, not as much of one anyway. :) Even if I do let Monty come round my house to play Guess Who?

"Has he got a ginger moustache, black hair and blond eyebrows?"
"No Nick. Nobody has, apart from my mother-in-law."

Another pathetic post. When will 'people like you' learn that most on here are individuals and to bracket them shows a narrow minded approach like 'poeple like you' bracket.
This from a man who was too snobbish to approach RB and talk to him. You may bracket yourself as above other if you want but most on here will judge you as a misguided individual.

.........most on here will judge you as a misguided individual.

Only in not so many words, and certainly ones shorter than those.

Most of us can have a discussion without pigeonholing others, but Mic isn't like that - if your view doesn't fit exactly with his then he can label you how he likes. Most of us on here don't fit in any template, we are all individuals with our own foibles, but Mic sees fit to neatly label and categorise people, like an accountant with numbers or a child with Smarties.

Most of us see the folly in broad categorisation, but some don't, can't or won't. Let them, if that makes them feel important.

Yes Freeman is quick but its not his only trait, we clamour for pace all the time but this season has been proof that having technical gifted players and skilful players is far more useful, than having a player that can run quick. So even if we lose some of those players we need to look for a player that has good technical attributes. If they have blistering speed as well them we have come across a really good bargain.

Mic
McCabe has made poor decisions it can be argued but to say that the club is rotten and rotting is crass.
I don't belive for one second that McCabe wants anything else but success for SUFC and has backed the club with funds to try to do something about it. The fact that we are where we are indicates a failure to take correct decisions but does not at all imply any wrong doing or malice on the part of McCabe and it is incredulous that someone that clearly has some semblence of logic can opine such.

If you are so incensed by the way the club is run then do something about it. It's effing simple to complain all the time it's incredibly difficult to actually do something positive to change anything without a large fortune to piss away. Give it a go and stop being a repetitive, small minded, arrogant and personally abusive poster. You might like it.

Ahh I see so I should put him in my 'To feel sorry for' section.:D Quite wrong of course.

Snobbish? What on earth are you on about?

Above others? Certainly not. Right about McCabe, Birch, Batho, Blackwell, Alehouse - I think so.

Wrong doing or malice? Not me squire. Said on many occassion that McCabe is well within his rights to shift assets and wedge around a group of companies but I will forever maintain that the football side of things was weakened by greedy property links.

So what started as a friendly memo to Danny about his choice of players has turned into mics usual rant about McCabe and birch and another chance to use his pet name for Adams.

Some would say you're obsessed with Micky Adams

Funny how it's only at the end of the season that you bring this up. Would you have done this if we'd gone up in the play offs. Highly unlikely.

all the chat guys, but it's as simple as this..if we need monty (even on the bench) we're not in a good place..
just an opinion....but thr right one;)

Not quite... :)

If we play him we cannot play the sort of football we saw last year - the sort of football we want to see more of. However, we got promoted with him and damn near stayed in the Prem with him. So he's far from being the millstone you portray.

I'd like to see him leave in the summer to free up money and to help us keep the likes of McDonald and enable a passing football culture to prosper. But that doesn't mean I love him any less. ;)

It is indeed. A few of us noticed this a while ago! Any remaining doubts were removed by his non-contribution at Wembley.

DW would have unloaded Monty months ago if anyone were mad enough to take on his ludicrous wages [the folly of Blackwell/Birch]. He'll be allowed to go for free now, possibly with us paying part of his wages. Cresswell will also go if possible.

The pity is: our highest earners [Quinn aside] will not be wanted by any manager in his right mind. If only Blackwell could get a job!

His last two "non-contributions" at Wembley have both included stopping a goal bound effort as a last ditch act of defense. Still, I suppose if he hadn't have been there the most recent time, we could have lost in normal time and not gone through the shootout.

Yes he did do that. Conspicuously so, because it was the only worthwhile thing he did all afternoon. Even the tireless but futile shadow-chasing of the Burnley debacle was entirely absent. We'd have been better off with 10 men. The admirable Michael Doyle had to do the work of two in any event, but at least there'd have been nobody making his job all the harder by losing the ball on the very few occasions he got involved at all.

Your loyalty is admirable, Foxy, but your boy is, at last, on his way out, Thank the Pele.

In my humble opinion monty is a great player if you use him in the correct systema or situation.
We all know his tackling, defending and man marking are second to none (just ask frank lampard).
The trouble is we are not a team that hoofs or is defending for its survival.
We are now an attacking team (injurys permiting) who needs to unlock other teams and not sit back and defend.

Been a great servant and i thank you for it but its time to move on monty and get one last crack at the ccc.
