I missed it initially but a friendly in Austria has been supposedly pencilled in against Al Nassr on 2nd August. Posting here as the pinned post regarding friendlies is often bypassed I think.

Has anyone heard anything further on it? How likely it is and location etc?

Good of the club to keep up traditions of leaving it all last minute.

Really hope this happens. Grunau is right up in the Alps - stunning part of the country. Best to fly to Linz or Klagenfurt from Stansted with Ryanair. Salzburg is another option. Graz is closest airport but there's no direct flights from the UK yet.

If anyone fancies a weekend of it. £147 return Stansted to Klagenfurt. Out Thursday 31st July back Sunday 2nd August.

Where does it say that?
You're right. In your post #4 it mentions a couple of locations. It doesn't say Grunau specifically. It mentions a stadium in Bad Wimsbach (Hofmanninger Stadion) and Grunau, which would suggest it's SV Walz Grunau's stadium. Both are tiny. Vienna is a good option in that case. Manchester flights :)

Of course there is every possibility that the game will be held at different location to those being played by Palace, but I imagine Al Nassr are training up there, so local venues.

Flying to one of the neighbouring countries might be an option if the game is near the border?

What's the deal with these things? You just turn up and pay to get in, or what? I might actually go to this if I'm free.

Will keep tabs on this, would be something to tell the grandkids. I'm sceptical about the allocation of tickets in terms of if blades fans will actually be able to get any.

They’ll have to allocate us some surely? But wouldn’t put it past United to fuck that up.

I really get the impression, and I hope that I'm wrong, that the club doesn't really want our fans to attend pre-season matches abroad and make it tricky as possible for us to make it with such short notice.

I can understand that if that's the case if the players/management want some privacy I just think they should be a bit more honest about it and have it played behind closed doors.
