Freeman

I can see Freeman going right at the death of the transfer window and the money plus the Walker and Harry money used for a couple of influential signings.

But what do I know, I'm deluded?

Because it's the Sheffield way. Simple as that really. You'll not find a more negative, glass half-empty, set of people anywhere else in the country. It's just the way folk are around here. Not all of them of course - but more so than any other place on earth that I've ever been. I don't know why it's that way, but it is.[/QUO

That's a big statement to make Cerberus unless of course you have lived in other cities and compare the two ,in my opinion people are the same basically it's events that change the mood.Sheffield area people are as friendly's any in the world

How / why so ?
How different are Baldock & Brayford ( if playing in the system that allows the RB to 'bomb on' & not fret over much about defending)

Really? So you don't think that Baldock is an alternative to Freeman then? I think that's exactly why we've got Baldock tbh.

I see Baldock as competition for Freeman, someone signed assuming that Freeman's going to be staying. He's a good player, but I think if Freeman left we would've tried for somebody more proven/convincing to replace him and his impact from that position. It's possible that some of those players have moved elsewhere or didn't want to come here without being guaranteed a start. And if Freeman left now then I think we'd be deterred from spending a decent fee on a RB/RWB having already signed Baldock for a fee - we'd just go with Baldock and maybe sign cover for him IMO.

What's the crack with Beard? I've guessing this will be in Freeman's mind. Will he be first choice if Beard stays?

Depends on what you are measuring against, if it is goal scoring, it's Freeman every day of the week.

True, but I doubt he'll have anything like that success in this league and defending will become a lot more important against vastly better players.

Top six clubs maybe, but most of the teams I watched on TV last year would not frighten our current squad.

I assumed so but I still think he's the better player of the two.

That's why I wrote " I'm afraid."
Wilder wants commitment, but it seem that Brayford is more committed to playing for daddy than he is playing for United . Sad I know but that's the way it appears.

Sheffield United have the most parochial, negative, cap-doffing, inferiority-fuelled fans in the land. I've been around a bit. It's true.

They knock their own club like no other. Every other club gets everything right and speaks the gospel truth. We are run by incompetent charlatans.

Just have a browse through this forum right now. This, after a record breaking season featuring some of the best football we've seen for decades.

Wankers.

I don't wear a cap, and where I'm from, such ridiculous words don't even pass people's lips. If by these degradatory words, your actually meaning, passionate, then I totally agree sir!

But you're not suffering from that dreadful condition B.I.C. I must have imagined what I saw from our team last season and failed to appreciate the stunning brilliance on display in the Championship.

Pele help us if we ever get to the Premiership again. Those that don't commit suicide will be in mental health institutions repeatedly doffing their imaginary caps and ripping their forelocks brutally from their scalps.

Then you're kidding yourself. I speak the unwelcome truth. I always have done. As a Blade myself, why would I say such things? I would much prefer to say otherwise. Do you read some of the ludicrous bollocks on here?

I do, I also don't ridicule others for having a difference of opinion to myself.
Could you emphasise more, as to why I'm "kidding myself"??

We see plenty of yours, Hyacinth.

Courteously repeated of course, just in case we didn't see it the first 3 million times.

Last season counts for fuck all now, we're a Championship club, we ain't playing against small clubs every week anymore.

I only criticise the club because I think we should be achieving far more. We should have at least made a cup final in the last 50 years and even won a cup! This club has massively under achieved for decades and us fans shouldn't be settling for not reaching our potential.

Vastly? Dear oh dear, we're cap-doffing again...

Yes, vastly better PLAYERS. Not vastly better TEAMS.

Million pound players tend to be better than £10K players.

There are many players in the Championship who would be playing in the Premiership if they were more consistent/better attitude. We need both FB/WBs to be solid defensively because they'll be facing talented and often international wide players.

Not really. I said it all in my previous post.

Our fans speak for themselves. The language is bile, spite and malice and the dialect is bollocks. It is delivered with an unhealthy degree of cap-doffing to other clubs and derogatory assertions towards our own.

Remind me, how many clubs have spent 6 years in Division 3 with stronger support than United? Wilder gives the impression he quite likes the fans, and regards himself as one. Has he got this wrong? Surely you are not suggesting he is faking it.

What is wrong with dialect? Should we doff our caps and only use the Queen's English? As in your use of the word 'bollocks'? Her Majestty would not approve.

Perfectly acceptable to exhibit bile, spite and malice towards certain ex-managers and players though isn't it Hyacinth?

A coward, a bore AND a hypocrite. That's quite a repertoire you're developing isn't it?

As a concession, he'll occasionally include an awkward insertion of the word "mate" in his posts to show that he's a 'man of the people'.

A bit like William Hague when he wore that baseball cap....

You explained nothing to me about the way I'm "kidding myself", please enlighten me, I'm eager to find out how you've come to such a compiled conclusion!?
It's alright spouting the big fancy words, but without actual solid foundations for the facts, it just seems like the babbling of a self important fool.

You're quite right.

I had a browse through the forum and I found one of the most cap-doffing, Blade knocking posts its ever been my misfortune to read:-

It was part of a metaphor...
I come in search of enlightenment. Your original statement was 'the dialect is bollocks.' You say it is part of a metaphor. I have tried and failed to see what the metaphor is. Would you please explain it to us lesser mortals. Thanks.
