I've offered my opinions on the game on Robbie's thread before anyone gets their knickers in a twist about me not enjoying our win.

But that free kick towards the end of the first half. Dear god what was that??!

If a free kick could sum up a season, that one did for us.

Not had a shot on target all half, win a dangerous free kick, great position for a shot, and we float it aimlessly towards the back post and lose possession.

Almost broke the back of the seat kicking it in frustration.

It said a lot about the lack of character in the squad. No one wanted to take any responsibility to shoot from 20 yards.

I didn't understand it at all. What were they attempting?

Surely Brayford should've been there to smash it into the wall

Seems to have been forgotten about in the hysteria of our jammiest ever win

Looked like a training ground move to me, thought they should have been commended for trying something different?!

It thought Scougall's row z effort summed up the performance to be honest!

brayford should have blasted it (vinnie jones mean machine style) at least if he dont score it would cheer me up

Amazed that within a very experienced side not one player had the bottle/ confidence to take a shot. I'm sure Baxter or Harris would have had a go

Towards the end of the game, the ball fell to Brayford on the edge of the box, he had acres of space to hit it first time but he didn't.

One other moment that Hammond clearance when he just kicked it straight out for a corner when his body was facing away from our goal. Incredible.

Hammond at least managed to kick the ball, Collins didn't even manage that when he presented that fella Lameiras with the shooting chance from which Long made a good save.

Collins managed to pass it straight to them three times in 5 minutes ...all in our box.

The moment when he dallied on it, was robbed, then nutmegged and sprinted past summed him up. If Adkins cant see likes of him and McEveley are not good enough allied to non entities like Woolford and Sammon, it is a worry. 4 players I would not have near the first team.

Collins has to be the first out of the door in January. Apart from the odd goal once in a full moon I really don't see the value in having him in the squad.

He is slow and so is Jay Mac hence the poor tackling, sloppy passing and general dithering when in possession.

Standing over the freekick it was obvious to both coutts and mcevely that we had been so dominant in the air up to that point winning headers with ease against the frankly tiny back four of coventry that the best option was a floated ball which they would have no chance of clearing. In all seriousness we don't seem to have a leader that reads the game and talks to the team. Its so frustrating when we press a team only for someone (usually sharp) to foul them . Little things like this can make the world of difference over a season.

I think people are being a bit harsh, McEverley was quite ambitious just chipping it towards the opposition goal, I'm pretty sure his natural instinct would have been telling him to knock it back to George Long :(

Yes it goes on the list as one of the more infuriating moments of the game, also featuring...
1. Why is J-Mac making that tackle?
2. Why does Neill think he's Maradona on the ball when in fact he's more like Madonna. The instance when he contrived to lose it then get nut-megged would be pure comedy if it wasn't so tragic (hmm... didn't see you trying to blame anyone for that one Neill).
3. Edgar 'passing' the ball 10 yards to a team mate out of play.
4. Chris Basham's (he of the Cruyff turn) insistence that he shouldn't have the ball.... "no don't give it me, give it someone else". Chris, you have the ability, just enjoy the football, go on you can do it.

It was a free kick that had obviuosly been dreamed up during the week "for the camera's" but the second phase of it we never saw, maybe we will be treated to the rest of it,in a future game,

Thought we had gone back to the comedy free kick routines perfected by the likes of Brownie and Tongey.

There was an idea behind it, Collins to block Hammond's marker, and for Hammond to have a free header across the goal for Done and others to run onto:

But their centre half managed to escape Collins' tug and won the header.

Sod the fancy training-ground routines; their keeper was the most Dracula-like I've ever seen. Any pressure he was put under, he was flapping at everything - so they float one to the far post?? Not the greatest of ideas.

I got the impression it was something worked on in training. Fair enough it had been 30+ yards from goal or a difficult angle but that was ideal for having a go when we’d not worked the keeper by that point. 11 professional footballers and not one was dying to have a pop. I’ve never played above 5 a side level at Pitz and Goals but I’d have been rubbing my hands together at that opportunity.

I agree it was a good distance to try a direct shot.
