Just remind your friends that no one wanted the pigs (wendy) to win. It was such a wonderful no lose night for us and you gave us all such a laugh and a high that is still happening. We probably enjoyed it more than you lot:D

With our recent relegation/promotion relationship, it gave us much delight i can tell you. We seem to have built a bit of a strange rivalry with them over the last few seasons.

It was a great evening and well worth the travel, getting in at 2am was a small price to pay to beat that deluded lot. A poor atmosphere as well when you consider what was at stake for them. All the noise came from our end.

Ge'or... they had about 80000 fans there didn't they? ;)

Not sure if you are related but Charlton Palmer didn't like it one bit.

Thanks for the immense comedy value (not you, them obviously) but lay off the effort next time you visit Sheffield :)

See... they never show James Bond being bored, sitting on planes getting pissed and suffering from jetlag.

This thread is the reality of what being an international man of business does to you.

Jet lag? What's that then?

There was actually a study done on Bond's alcohol intake by these boys:

Not sure how daft it is but looking at getting London based Blades to the match on coaches organised by the club wouldn't be daft?

Can't they just jump on the Charlton Coaches, they're coming anyway ;)

It's got a bit of merit, Swiss. But we'd just be using our money to pay for the fucking incompetence of the 'powers that be'.

As Charlton George said, it's up to CAFC to decide if they want to dip into the telly money to help their fans. The Blades did it for the Fulham replay, remember?

Now this is how to reward your fans (if the club can afford it):

Despite sharing the same stadium for the first leg of their last 16 Champions League tie, fans of Arsenal and Bayern Munich were hit with very different costs for the privilege on Wednesday night.

The hosts set the price of an away ticket at £62 but the Bundesliga giants quickly stepped in to subsidise the price, knocking a seat at the Emirates down to just £37.

But home fans were not so lucky, with the most expensive standard seat coming in at an eye-watering £132 - almost £100 more than the 2,974 travelling supporters had to pay.

This is where football is wrong. You can't show televised games between 3-5pm on a Saturday, but you can put a game on a Sunday lunchtime and not even give a second thought to the away fans.

And arsenal charging that much for tickets... Obscene!

I always had a soft spot for Charlton. Played them in the first match I ever went to, I used to look out for their scores when Clive Mendonca played for them.

Maybe we should give their players two free pies each. (Just before kick off.)

very simple to answer - Charlton, like us get £247,000 from TV money.
If charlton wanted to use some of that then that is their prerogative. If they don't then just call them greedy barstewards.
The winners of the tie get £180,000 and untold of money for a Wembley semi final.
It's a no brainer really..............

Me too. they were the nearest league team when I lived in Chislehurst and I have two good mates who are Addicks. My first ever visit was a Cup match in 1967, where Mick Jones scored the only goal.

I was there when Derek Hales broke John Flynn's leg (although not sadly when Hales was sent off for scrapping with his own fellow striker Mike Flanagan), whcih must have been worth seeing).

I did once see a Div 2 game at The Valley that featured two ex-European Footballers of the Year, Charlton George and Darren aren't allowed to reply :-)

Yeah... I quite like Charlton. It's an away trip I don't miss and you can always get a drink in the Rose of Denmark.

I also saw DazBlade88's nipples when we beat them 5-2 down there in 2008.

Last time I went missed the kick off cus of The Rose of Denmark

Allan Simonsen & George Best the European Footballers of the Year? Charlton were playing Maidstone in the FA Cup when Hales and Flanagan fought each other and got sent off

Did Fulham chip in for us? We don't owe Charlton anything, however I feel sorry for the fact this is a noon kick off. It was probably on police advice, dicks.

Yeah Police advice assuming the MASSIVE would actually beat Charlton.

That foregone conclusion never happened and now they have egg on their face.

My only visit was when we lost 3-1 in December 1978.At the time the Valley had the biggest ground capacity (66,000) in England. Dave Shipperley (Neil's dad) opened the scoring for Charlton. Imre Varadi equalised for us but Mike Flanagan scored twice near the end. I had told my school that I was having a day out in Newbury but I had enough money to get the train to London and meet my Norwich mate (who had already left school in the summer) to watch the match. The next time I followed the Blades to play at Charlton but that was at Upton Park (Charlton shared the ground at the time) in the FA Cup in January 1992. We drew 0-0 and won the replay by 3-1 (Addicks fan Simon Tracey was brilliant for us in goal during the 1st half despite that we scored 3)

I remember that game well at the old Maidstone ground which was a 5 minute walk away from my home. I got excited seeing all the Charlton fans parking in our close even if the neighbours did not.
UTB

Why do we let the FA, police and television companies make stupid decisions like the impractical kick off times.
What about the away supporters who cannot make it for that time, the impact on local Sunday league teams and their players who can't either play or watch their favorite teams? The FA are their governing body too.

I and my grandson have to chose between my grandson's Junior soccer league match that will probably decide whether they win their league or not and our beloved SUFC,who we have supported home and away in the cup so far. The choice has been made, and sorry but the Blades will have to do without our support for this round.

Is Trevor Brooking still in charge of these matters? Even if he isn't I will lay the blame at his door due to his West Ham connections :-(

I see Charlton have an allocation of 5300 tickets - same as Forest I think.

Be interesting to see if they sell out.

That's a lot of coaches :)

Doesn't appear that our club are going to help out with travel any more than usual, which is a shame but not the end of the world. One of the coaches leaves Kent at 4:30am…which should be shown to the FA as an example of how ridiculous the whole thing is.

Anyway, a lot of our fans seem very confident that we will still sell out, with tickets going on general sale Monday (they are currently on restricted).

Fingers crossed we do, as a great atmosphere on TV from a CCC club and L1 club will show the plastic Prem fans how its done.
