Hear me out on this one...

Why don't SUFC supply free coaches to Charlton fans? Or split the cost with Charlton ( if they don't offer it themselves)

Looking at other forums it sounds like there will be travel issues with the early kick off.

We have to give them a certain percentage anyway so if it puts their fans off, then those seats will be unsold.

The lane is much better when it's full and I think knowledge of a fuller away end spurs more blades fans to go to the game

It's extra money in our coffers and would be an unprecedented step. I'd just rather see four sides full than three.

Or am I being completely daft?

Nice sentiment but for us to cough up for other clubs might be a step too far.

Imagine all the dodgy kick off times in the future where we're playing away - fans would be demanding we do it everytime "You did for Charlton fans but why not your own" kind of thing.

Roland Duchatelet isn't short of a bob or two - it would be up to him, wouldn't it ? He's twice as rich as McCabe and the Prince put together.

Put your hand in your pocket you miserable tight Belgian bastard. (This isn't a reference to McCabe by the way :) )

Just on this, we have to offer a certain percentage, Charlton don`t have to take us up on that offer. We may even be able to impose a no Returns policy i.e. if they ask for 4500 and only sell 2000, they still pay us for 4500.

Basically, I don`t think that charlton not selling 4500 by a long margin will adversely affect the number of tickets allocated to blades

Did Fulham chip in for us? We don't owe Charlton anything, however I feel sorry for the fact this is a noon kick off. It was probably on police advice, dicks.

Think this was down to BT and having it on the telly. Yet another stupid kick off time, I cant stand these lunchtime KO's

Hi lads,

We are hoping for some of the TV money to be used to lay on coaches. Would seem like a viable option for the club, especially as ticket sales are split, so the more fans the more money back.

If not, then i still don't see why we shouldn't still take 3k+. Its Sheffield, not Shanghai. We are the worst Cup team in the world, so for us to get this far then our fans should make the extra effort.

The FA and TV companies have shafted us but we just need to get on with it.

Welcome to the forum CG.

I personally think its a step too far to do that.

However my other thoughts are that we should do this simply because they put the arrogant Wendys in their place!!!

Cheers KG.

In terms of 'the club' i meant CAFC. We don't expect anything from Sheff Utd, it would be crazy to think so.

Nice sentiment from the OP but we have received a fair few quid from the TV company, so hopefully we put it to good use.

If any Charlton fans are reading and fancying staying over on the Saturday night, I'm sure we'd be able to provide a decent list of eateries and ale houses...

Why not let Charlton have the John St stand while we are at it make it like a home game for them LOL.
A stupid KO time though, I have Charlton supporting relatives some living on the Isle of Sheppey no doubt they will have to set of at daft O'clock or book hotel rooms.

Will there be any away friendly boozers open the sunday morning near the ground?

Swiss may just be cleverer than you all think?

Assume 50 seats on coach that is £1,000 of additional ticket sales revenue + additional revenue from refreshments etc.

Coach cost £500?

Genius.

Yes, I'm sure The Howard (away friendly pub, opposite station) and the Globe will both be open early on the day. Also the Royal Standard is a mixed pub, short 5 minute walk from the Lane and home fans will cause you no bother.
Avoid the Cricketers, the Railway and Sheaf House on the actually road the away end is on they are strictly Blades boozers.

No, but you can put your name forward to drive one of the coaches for a modest fee?

o_O

Just remind your friends that no one wanted the pigs (wendy) to win. It was such a wonderful no lose night for us and you gave us all such a laugh and a high that is still happening. We probably enjoyed it more than you lot:D

Probably the right answer :)

It was a bit of an alcohol fueled thought as I was sat watching a shite film on the plane following reading a few comments online. The main point being that we fill the ground.

Question answered :)
I've read the 2nd post loads now because I could not believe that i was agreeing with him for once;).
It won't be far off full anyway. Keep safe on travels mate.

It's got a bit of merit, Swiss. But we'd just be using our money to pay for the fucking incompetence of the 'powers that be'.

As Charlton George said, it's up to CAFC to decide if they want to dip into the telly money to help their fans. The Blades did it for the Fulham replay, remember?

Now this is how to reward your fans (if the club can afford it):

Despite sharing the same stadium for the first leg of their last 16 Champions League tie, fans of Arsenal and Bayern Munich were hit with very different costs for the privilege on Wednesday night.

The hosts set the price of an away ticket at £62 but the Bundesliga giants quickly stepped in to subsidise the price, knocking a seat at the Emirates down to just £37.

But home fans were not so lucky, with the most expensive standard seat coming in at an eye-watering £132 - almost £100 more than the 2,974 travelling supporters had to pay.

See... they never show James Bond being bored, sitting on planes getting pissed and suffering from jetlag.

This thread is the reality of what being an international man of business does to you.

Agreed - been there, done that - dull as owt.

Not sure how daft it is but looking at getting London based Blades to the match on coaches organised by the club wouldn't be daft?
