Four changes, how did they do?

Too right. Them idiots who put Burton out last season must have felt like right muppets when they got to the final and ended the season with promotion. If only they'd let them knock them out early, could have meant a far less stressful season!

Yes they might have gone up automatically instead of through the play offs far less stressful

Howard was definitely rusty and he will be disappointed at flapping the cross that led to the 1st goal. Last week Keith Edwards said that Howard should be our number 1 keeper and I strongly disagree as Long is more talented and I back him to improve his decision making. Coady looked nervous at times so I would have McGinn back. Flynn is not as good as Brandy. McFadzean was OKish. Taylor looked more sharper and more mobile than Porter. Agree with Wards that Williams was poor

Didn't go to the tinpot cup, but if Keith thinks that he's off his rocker. Stick Long back in the reserves? You can hear the chuckles all the way to Hull on that one. Was a great player for us, but he really talks out of his bumhole at times.

Anyone else think Taylor possibly isn't match fit and that is the only reason Porter is in the starting 11? Taylor looked lively and dangerous when he came on but he pulled up a couple of times limping and stuff. Fingers crossed he gets match fit and tears the league to pieces, only time will tell!

The reason he was limping is he got clattered and was down injured, if he was carrying a knock he wouldnt have even been on the bench

Porter is not a striker - cows arse and banjo come to mind Give Taylor a chance from the start

Whilst Porter should have done better, he came closer to scoring than Taylor.

Because Taylor can run faster and came deeper for the ball (effectively right wing, when KMac had also retreated) many have decided that he "looked more dangerous". A shot off target is a shot off target. A shot when he should have squared the ball might show a strikers instinct, but a less popular player would have been called out on it.

Neither have had enough game time, nor missed enough chances to make any drastic decisions with.

Aye, the previous 2 seasons just didn't exist.

I was thinking more in terms of giving them a chance in a team that looks like it may have a chance of creating opportunities for strikers. You know, rather than smashing the ball at their neck and watching them from 35 yards away.

If we'd have applied the same to Ched Evans we'd have scored significantly fewer goals the other year (no I'm not directly comparing the two :)).

He needs to improve, but he's not the only one. You could pick a host of them that have missed a few opportunities so far.

The frustration for me Foxy is I don't want a third of the season to be taken up by the manager realising our main striker can't hit a bulls ass with a banjo. There's a real risk the top 2 will be out of sight by then. The stats are the stats and whilst I accept it's partly about delivery, it was (for example) Evans non performance that was a significant factor in landing us in the third division. Porter's stats are completely abysmal, so bad that sole responsibility cannot be batted off to the service providers. And I have no doubt that a side with him in the main striking role will not escape this division in the direction we want.

Me neither and I'm confident that Weir won't need long to take action if it's needed.

I just think he's getting a bit more stick than he would have had it have been Taylor up top on his own with the same performances. Perhaps that's because of his past as you say, but others have been just as guilty of failing to hit the target.

We've had one league game and one cup game, rather than a third of the season :)

The hope is that moan power will reduce a third of the season the 3 games maximum.

Porter has as many lives as a cat with some people. He's used at least 7 of em up by now though. surely.

He's only here cos we have nobody else cept Taylor and the wheelchair detective. Even the most ardent of the "we don't need another striker" brigade must be starting to wonder where the goals are going to come from.
