Apologies, not had chance to post this sooner...

As those there last week know, we lost our usual discount at Goals. I've made a few enquiries as to getting us a decent quality value option which might involve moving location, let me know your thoughts!

The cheaper options so far would be Sheffield uni or the akademy at Dronfield

UPDATE: Pitz (powerleague) this week lads? £25 between us and I'm negotiating a cheaper rate for block bookings if we get on with the facilities.

This is in General Blades Chat as it is an open invite to all.

For a few years, a number of us have been intermittently meeting on a Sunday morning to have a friendly, "non-competitive" game of football. It started as a way to keep in touch through the close season and carried on.

All age-ranges and abilities are welcome and the cost of the pitches are shared equally between those playing.

So, if anyone is free this coming Sunday morning and fancies a game, this is what you need to know:
Venue: TBC

Time: 10:00
Cost: TBC.
What you need: Trainers or astro-turf boots. studs. Shinpads optional. A sense of humour.
Guests are welcome.

Please yay or nay for definite by Friday night if possible.

RSVP by replying to this thread!

Non-members can express an interest by email to [email protected]

Not here this weekend, but i'm up on nest weekend for tramlines. What time do you usually finish? I'll have to see if i can get a late checkout at the hotel.

That's if i can stand after 2 epic nights drinking. :)

ps: Anyone know what the late checkout time is at the copthorne?

Yes to the Uni but Dronfield is a bit too far for me.

Me too , but its getting a bit steep for Ballin

Me and small are available, for either Uni (not been there) or Goals at the higher price.

To be honest if we can't get a regular 10 people plus on a good surface like Goals, for the older folk, I may have to retire from forum footy .

I must say it would be with a sad heart because it could be the last time I play the game!

Reet, Pitz this Sunday fellas? It meets the cheaper and closeish to Goals tick boxes and isn't the Uni.

25 sheets between us and discussing a deal if we get on with the pitches for block bookings being cheaper.

The days of a quid each are sadly gone, but a couple of quid a pop if we get the numbers isn't too bad?

Did you know the Uni have gone with rubber crumb on the top pitches as well as the bottom ones. Only been in for a month or so, and supposedly better on the joints (if that's what you're alluding to).

I've just fecked my knee playing on them, but other than that I'm sure they're ace.

The ones we played on were rubber crumb, but fairly short pitches with netting rather than boarding, which is less conducive to not getting tangled/arsing about fetching the ball all the time. Are they all like that?

The top ones are bigger - good for seven-a-side. Netting and ball fetching still required.

Sounds like the Pitz would suit you better. Last time I played they were crumb, boarded and 5-a-side maximum.

Cheers :)

Yeah, the netting saves the body slams into the boards, but stops the game more so we're probably better suited to Pitz. We have played at Pitz before, but it was a little aged the last time we were there... Understand they've been doing it up and got a few more improvements ongoing though.

So we have 9? , any news on the pups ballin?

Okay, well we're definitely on with at least 9, so I'll book the pitch.

Owd Foxy, must feel like Danny Wilson wondering if enough players will turn up :D
