Did I read correctly that ex Blade Jonathan Forte scored a hat trick to aid us in our sights for top spot? Crikey......

Solid win for Blades today. Don't fancy our chances at Colchester and although a win really a must i'll settle for a point at this stage, however, they did draw away at lowly Wycombe today.

A proper one too. Right foot, left foot, header.

I was half expecting us to go for him earlier in the season, a decent player at this level although I don't think he's played under DW before which seems to be a pre-requisite :)

He's on loan with Notts County, which suggests he wasn't doing the business elsewhere.

He's had a lot of loan deals in his career....

Adkins took him to Southampton as cover - but now he has Billy Sharp.
Good to see Forte doing the business and hope he continues this weekend - then a drout for a couple of weeks before scoring again.

I was talking to one of my in-laws yesterday. He's a big Notts County fan - never misses a home game.

He said everyone was amazed at Forte's hat-trick. He's been on loan at County before, and had never looked like a prolific goal-scorer.

Every dog has his day, I suppose...

The first and second of Forte's goals would have been stopped by a half-decent keeper. Charlton's defensive strength is their centre halves; their goalkeeper (Hamer) is terrible. You could also argue he should have stopped County's speculative opener: it was a good strike but at a nice height for a keeper.

Take nothing away from Jonathan Forte though: he was in the right place for each of the chances.

Somewhat borne out by the fact that he dropped one in his own net against us as well (albeit ruled out for some reason)

Forte has only managed 33 goals in 8 years, which is very poor for a forward, but strangely has managed 2 HT's for Notts County.

Been a shit biscuit all his career with duffer teams like Scunthorpe United. Out on loan and never proven anything to anyone. Never had a run in any of them and probably for good reason.

If he is the answer then I assume the question is who shot all our first team squad.

Let's not be too dismissive of the lad. He's just doing his job to the best of his ability.

He's probably earning a decent salary, and I'm not aware of any off-field misdemeanors.

Let him fill his boots again on Saturday and then have a quiet game on Tuesday.

I seem to remember that he scored against us when at Scunny last season, didn't he?

Didn't everyone and his dog score goals against us last season? I wouldn't class it as a world beating feat myself. I would have fancied myself to bag a couple against our shambles last season.

In fairness to the lad when you check his stats he does seem to like playing for Notts County, having been there on loan no fewer than three seperate occasions. He is lower league and that is where he will stay.

still think he could have offered something different to our team this season

I remember thinking he was set for greatness after scoring against Leicester in a defeat years ago. How wrong I was!

I thought the same when he came on in a game late on v ( I think ) Sunderland and hit the bar after a storming run down the right hand side

Forte was shit last night ,they looked more threatening with Adebola ,although Hughes (in court today I heard) was poor.
