Apologies if there's already a thread on this but don't you think its weird how certain former players have gone on to have good careers when they looked bang average for us? Watching the dirty Leeds game and Kyle Bartley is their captain! Simon Francis is another that comes to mind.

Watching the Leeds v Newcastle game too.

Not surprised though, as I thought Bartley would end up in the PL personally.

Sam Vokes has surprised me though, I couldn't see much in him from where I was sitting when we had him on loan, but obviously I know nothing as he looks fairly assured in the premier league.

Bartley was a kid on loan learning his trade. Now he's a bloke with several years under his belt. If he hadn't improved in that length of time there's something wrong with him.
Francis admitted he took the piss at the Lane, thought he was big time and went out drinking etc. He needed the shock of playing in the lower league to wake him up.

Didn't he have that giant at the back nosworthy besides him :(

Michael Twiss - Nowhere near bang average for us then went on to have a 'career' in the non league.

Bruce wanker signing with his tongue up Old Red Nose's arse."Please Sir Alex, can we have some crumbs off your tabke..."

A kid called Kyle Walker.

Played well for us at Wemberlee then disappeared without trace.

Possibly working on the bins.....

Wayne Quinn / Lee Morris / Slew all disappeared without trace after leaving the good ship SS Bladey McBladeface

Francis showed in his time here that he could play. Now a regular for Bournemouth.

Same applies to Britton, already a decent player for Swansea, Blackwell surprised most people with his purchase and then went on to show he was clueless when it came to knowing what to do with the player. The subsequent return to Swansea also saw Britton's form gain a second lease of life. You couldn't make this up.

Quite so, Britton had weekly treatment for a stiff neck when he played for us.

Although not quite on topic, it's also why you couldn't imagine Wilder making the same type of appalling mistake. All managers make mistakes, but I think CW would have a fair idea about a player's ability and how it would fit into the Blade's style of play.

Watched the boy Brayford at the weekend V Reading. We are not missing much there from what I saw. Scored a lovely own goal to top off the performance.

I hate Kyle Bartley, wimped out when we needed him to stand tall and then the Rangers thing worked out well, glad he is at L**ds so I can hate him even more.....
