“There is probably someone in Sheffield who once told everyone. ” guess who I am? I’m the leader of the David Brooks Fan Club ..that’s who! ” Now an angry broken dude sat in the park with his Pics scratching his sad Yorky Ar#e!"

The rest of the thread just writes itself after that, doesn't it?

Thanks.

There used to be a job title of filing clerk. (The person that puts all the paperwork away in the right place.)

You do quite the opposite - find all the relevant info out with aplomb!

It is a bit sickening to see the comments about Brooks.

Someone who can be arsed should cross check every poster who slates the club over this, against any poster on the "wunt it be nice to go up" thread, that doesn't think we want or need to get promoted.

Those posters should then be punished.

David Brooks is going to stir sad emotions in me for years to come it seems, along with Kyle Walker and Harry Maguire.

We didn’t get a combined £15m for those 3.

It was time for Maguire to go, but the other two... Jesus. Such poor business. If we’d hung on to Walker and Brooks for one more year their value would have gone through the roof.

I still maintain selling Brooks for that money was criminally bad business for United. He's proving that he's worth close to double that now.

Madness that we let him go for what Bournemouth receive in about a fortnight, just for being in the Premier League!

£11.5m for a player that probably would have been on the bench on Saturday. It’s not quite a DCL situation where a player not really involved was suddenly playing in a PL first team, but the reality was that for whatever reason Brooks wasn’t likely to start every week. It’s very easy to see his form for Bournemouth and think “well of course he’d have played every game” but given the form of Duffy, Sharp and McGoldrick it’s not actually that likely. It’s weird, yes, but given the reality he wasn’t necessarily going to be playing every game £11.5m doesn’t appear a terrible deal to me.

We'll have a massive sell on surely. I don't think £12m is criminal but I feel like we might have asked for more, and having failed to get it, chucked in a 20%+ sell on so they could get it over the line.

I remember Wilder looking quite happy when asked about the sell on anyway.

It's his next move that's the one that matters. We could easily get nearly the same again if he keeps progressing.

Bournemouth is the stepping stone, agents are probably waiting for someone to leave a space in a big 6 team in the next couple of years.

While I agree to a point that with hindsight the Brooks fee is low, Bournemouth were the only side in for him and we needed the fee to kickstart our summer recruitment.

Your maths is out too: £11.5m+£3m+£2.5m = £17m before additional fees from sell on clauses etc.

Wrong......it’s currently looking like the best piece of business we’ve ever made.

If Brooks was here, he’d struggle to keep Duffy out. We’d still be trying to find his best position and he’d probably mainly be sub.
Bournemouth were the only club interested.....in order to improve and build the squad in the short term it was a no brainier.

Agree selling Brooks might be bad business in the long term because he might have developed into a great player with us in a few years.
But to be fair if we have a chance of PL this season we should take it, remember Brooks wasn’t even a 1st teamer last season.

With the Brooks money we’ve managed to give Wilder a big pay rise, buy Egan (record club signing) and Norwood and bring in Henderson and McGoldrick.

There’s no denying that with the wheeling and dealing we are a far better side than last season and we’ve still got 5 million to spend.
This proves someone this season is doing a fantastic job with transfers in and out.

People have agendas and read into things what they want but just because someone is good at one club doesn’t mean he’s automatically good at another club. Brooks is now playing in a different role with different players and a different manager.

The Brooks deal was a rare situation where the player wins, the selling club win and the buying club win.

I know.

Imagine the team with jags, Walker, dcl, harry, Brooks....for starters.

But for Tevez, warnock, Robson, Adams, ched, weir, Adkins...

Fucking hell the wheel of football kept going down, even respites with blackwell and wilson ultimately ended in bad luck and self destruction.

Life as a blade, though, has rarely been better than at the moment. The wheel is on the up, for now.

He's proving that he's worth close to double that now. !

Agree but valuations aren’t linear and can have very little to do with linear ability. It’s the unbalanced market that sets valuations.

I’ll give an example.
Real Madrid offer Bournemouth £25 million for Brooks and they accept more than doubling their money in 6 months.

Brooks then only needs to play 6 times for Real Madrid putting in decent performances and then his value increases to £50 million.
So just because Brooks value has increased from £11 million to £50 million in 6 months doesn’t mean he’s 5 times the player.

Another example once we gained promotion from league 1 to the Championship the valuation of every squad player instantly increased.

Of course we could have been more patient and tried to hold out for a big offer but the big clubs were unlikely to ever bid for him.
There’s a pecking order, clubs like Bournemouth, Burnley etc buy the Brooks types and if they perform well in the PL then the big clubs come knocking with the massive offers.

Sorry about my earlier post Switch......I sound like a gobby loud mouth...when it’s only my opinion.

I’ve heard this a few times but it never works like that.

The only way we could have kept Jags is if we’d beat Wigan and avoided relegation in the PL.
The only way we could have kept the 2 Kyles was if we beat Burnley in the PO final and reached the PL.
The only way we could have kept Maguire is we’d gained promotion to the Championship.

It’s all about timing and a players developement needs to be in line with the developement/ finances of the club.
This rule is universal and even applies to the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea, so we’re no different.

James Wilson the best striker that Aberdeen fans have seen in years. They must have had some real dross!

Hit the nail on the head here. He’s playing with all round better players as well so that’ll improve him.

If he’d have gone from us in League 1 it would have been £4m, as it was it was £12m in the Championship and after a couple of good performances in the Prem it’ll be £40m from Bournemouth to the top 6 Prem and then £100m if he does it at the very top to Real etc. Seems the usual move for youngsters with potential. The fact some Championship clubs pay £10+m for players often clouds judgement.

As I recall, Barry Fucking Robson was a popular player for them after leaving us. It’s the Anthony Stokes Rule Of Cross-border Reinvention which dictates that the sum of a player’s standing at a north-of-the-border club is the inverse of the equivalent sum at his most recent south-of-the-border club.

Connor Sammon being the notable exception to that rule.

I'd have preferred to keep Leonard and shipped out Lundstrum.

I just hope we have a decent sell on with Brooks.

We have done a shred bit of business with Brooks. We get a 50% bonus payment once he makes his England debut.

No doubt we will have a big % of any future transfer ,he will go to a top club sooner or later ,Walker went for 50 million and earned us a few Bob Brooke's will top that

The disappointment is nothing him at his best in a blades shirt,we will see plenty of him as premiership gets big coveridge but seeing another star go before they reach there best is a big frustration no point in blaming the club ,this is foot ball 2018 players and there agents call the shots.
Would it be great to go back to pre -bosman time when clubs had more control
