Genuine question as I don't look at other teams forums but is there any other club as obsessed with ex players as we are? People still post when mcgoldrick, sorry Didzy as all his mates call him, scores in league 2 for Notts County, we are literally the Peter Kaye of fan bases, remembering things

Well that's depressing.

If we'd gone up in the play offs instead of Forest, there's a very good chance we'd have had Berge, Ndiaye and Gibbs-White in the Premier League. We might have had half a chance.
I've thought about that a few times since.

I reckon chances are we would have only got MGW on loan though for a season. We wouldn't have paid 40m or whatever it was like Forest did.

Unless I’m misinformed, I thought Ndiaye and Sander forced their moves??
They didn’t force their moves except to the extent that they told the club they wouldn’t sign new contracts. It was the club’s decision to get around £30m for them rather than allow them to go for nothing 12 months later. Which people can debate the merits of til the cowa come home.

Iliman went to his dream club. Sander…….hmm not so sure Burnley was his longstanding ambition.

I'd wish for anything to get the quality of Ndiaye back to our club but I'm glad Everton fans properly appreciate him.

Honestly id take Maguire back if we go up, Would be solid enough for us to hopefully stay up
He’d be a great signing. Better than Souttar, although you’d think, more expensive.

Whilst very disappointed to see him go, Ndiaye had made his mind up to go to Marseille and orchestrated a move. And i understand we threw everything at him to get him to stay - which almost worked for a while.

More frustrated by Berge's departure, as although he had less obvious impact, he was a great team player who was happy to stay for another season - and once promoted perhaps he could have then been persuaded to sign a new contract.
Didn't we sell Berge after we were promoted?

I do wonder if there may be an opportunity if we were fortunate enough to go up and show some ambition to get both Walker and Maguire back.

Neither would have a prohibitive fee at their age.

Maguire can also play LCB and is aerially dominant so you could make a decent pair with Anel. Have those three and Burrows in front of Cooper and it looks a decent back five.

Calvert-Lewin is on a free too! Perfect for 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. His injury record isn’t the best though as we know and o can see a scenario where he joins a Newcastle as they get raided for Isak.

David Brooks only has a year left on his deal at the end of the season too.

Cooper
Walker Ahmedhodzic Maguire Burrows
Arblaster Souza Peck
Brooks Calvert-Lewin Brereton-Diaz

Why not get the gang back together?! 😉

Former Players Update (Part 2)

Illiman Ndiaye, Sander Berge, Lys Mousset, Harry Maguire and Regan Slater

Cheers Panchero!

The views of Iliman and Sander are no surprise, two classy players.

Unless I’m misinformed, I thought Ndiaye and Sander forced their moves??
Ndiaye pushed for his move, but forced implies he refused to play for us again or put in a formal transfer request - none of which happens as far as I'm aware.

Berge didn't want to go to Burnley, but we wanted a fee for him so sold him.
