But if you think back to when we were after Brewster and McBurnie.
Almost every Blade was saying 25 mil is a bargain because he'll be worth 50 mil in a few years.
I even say plenty go Blades say...."we've been bartering for too long long, just pay him whatever he wants".
Apparently he was the new Michael Owen and massively rated at Liverpool....their fans were pissed off he was sold.

Also McBurnie was a top performer at Championship level, great gold scorer who could also set them up.
Again our fans insisted he would be an excellent buy at 20 mil, still young with a chance to improve.
In fairness I do think Brewster will come good. He was showing good form and starting to fulfill his potential just before he got injured. Coincidentally when he was played up front as a striker. I was gutted when he got injured.

Release clause or would be £200m
31
Release clause
And?

Release clause or not that’s what’s been paid for those 2 players

Mane may be 31 but has scored 67 goals in the last 4 seasons

Rice has 6 in the same period

Englad wise, I would put him behind Henderson, Mount, Phillips & Bellingham
And a country mile behind Foden

Meaning £100m is ridiculous

£100m is for the assumption you get access to the next 6-10 seasons of his year (his prime)

And to put him behind those first 3? You blatantly haven't watched him play for West Ham for a couple if seasons

Haaland and Thiago are going to be on £250k a week+ as well. Fees aren't everything

Controversial I know but MGW is being painted as the next Messi, he was alreight and I did enjoy watching him for a season. In all honesty I think in a higher division his flicks and tricks will be found out, he was giving possession away a lot for us in the championship, in the premier league when you lose the ball you don't get it back as easily. My honest prediction is that he ends up lower prem/upper championship.

Ok, now you all can tell me I am talking shit.

If he went for £100m it would be to Liverpool man C Man U or Chelsea. So would be on that wage also?

Not denying he’s a good player

But for a £100m midfielder I would expect a goal return better from his last 2 seasons the Jack Robinson has managed as a defender since Xmas😂

He's 23 with 160+ PL apps and 40+ England caps. That's what it costs

Look, for all his brilliant moments, he did miss far too many sitters for me and his flicks did become frustrating . But I do think he will become a Premier league star eventually, but I do hope it’s not with Nottingham Forest.

( IMO) He’s shit. No skill, not much to offer. He runs around, breaks up play , carries the ball 5 yards . I’ve got a 6 year old Spaniel that can do that .
You're making yourself look foolish. You've compared two players playing different roles for starters which makes comparisons meaningless. If you really think Declan Rice 'is shit' maybe it's time to realise football's probably not for you. (IMO).

Declan “The Shit” Rice, Midfield. Morgan Gibbs White, Midfield.
So Don Howe, explain , One as 1 goal and 4 assists the other as 12 goals and 10 assists. So you , the font of all things football, think the comparisons are meaningless . You’re probably right football may not be for me, one thing for certain, it’s definitely not for you. (IMO)

So, for clarity, you think they play the same roles in midfield? This could be good. Take a deep breath, take the spaniel for a walk to give yourself time to consider your post, then come back to me.

Well that's pissed me off

Why?
If we'd gone up instead, we still wouldn't be getting him

The club would convince itself that MGW is now a Blade and will crawl over broken glass to come here

And as it offers Wolves an insulting £5 million, then £5.5 million, and then a FINAL OFFER of £6 million, take it or leave it, he'll be whipped up by somebody else, deal done in 7 minutes.

Both play midfield, not defenders, not attackers, not in the goals , midfield.
What do you want your midfield player to do , make and score goals or run around like a Spaniel. Personally I want a midfield player to assist and score goals , l would gladly pay good money for that type of player, Morgan Gibbs White , offer of 20 million, joke. Midfielder who offer very little apart from running up and down chasing the ball and been branded a 100 million quid player , joke.
Spaniel now laid at my feet like a knackered Declan Rice, been running around like a headless 🐓.

Whoops see my reply under JJBlades post. Sorry 😉

How much did we pay for the likes of Brewste. Berge and mcburnie, none of whom we had previously worked with and could subsequently not gauge their value to SUFC?

Yes
Lesson learned,
We'll never try for a good player again

£20mil is about right. Liverpool signed Salah for £36.5mil and Sane for £34mil.

It makes our fees for Brewster and McBurnie seem even worse in comparison.
Doesn't make much sense to compare those transfers. First off, we don't know the exact details of any of those 4 deals. Secondly they were all done under different circumstances.

Blades were fishing in a very small pond, with the other teams knowing we had TV money and a desperate need for strikers.

Liverpool fish in a massive pond and can find the best deals (and players). Plus Liverpool are arguably the best at buying and selling, in recent years.

He won’t be signing for them, he’s got bigger ambitions…

they’ll be bottom to mid prem established clubs looking at him.

You think Roy Keane should score the same as Paul Scholes; Claude Makelele the same as Frank Lampard then?

One slot left in your midfield, which of these players are you signing?

Yossi Benayoun - 210apps 34 goals

N'Golo Kante - 220apps 12 goals

Reight fucking cock up not going up this season , I honestly think we were primed for a great run in the prem with some of the youngsters coming right at just the right time FFS
