In the context of previous opposition, Inter Milan is a pretty bloody big deal.

Nah mate, Chengdu Blades in 2007 was the big one.

By the way, when you scan stuff, you don't have to protect it with 53 sheets of tracing paper.

ISC - helpful photography and image hints, since 1963....

Truly recognised European competitive club football has been going for about 60 years.

Disappointing to see all our matches have been in friendlies.

The Anglo Italian cup ties in 1994-5 are missing from that list: we lost 2-1 to Udinese (the game when 4 got sent off) and drew 3-3 with Ancona.

Last time we invited foreign opposition to the Lane we had a rousing chorus of 'You dirty Turkish bastards'. That were nice. More o'that, please.

I was at that Latvia game and to this day I have no idea why.

I was going to say something about how bloody weird it was not only playing an international side but also playing it in March - but I've just learned that we played New Zealand in February, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Was the New Zealand game anything to do with Che Bunce?
Just reading about the "Canadians" from 1891 - they toured the UK from August right through to January, playing against England, Wales & Scotland, as well as a whole host of League clubs. Now that's a football tour!

Where's the European giants Motherwell on that list?

Went to the Latvia one as we were given free tickets at school (to any pig fans reading, no it's not the case for all our games).

Any idea why we played them and why it was mid season?

I seem to recall going to a mid-season game against (i think it was) Gothenburg in the mid 80s, that appears to have been missed.

I'd say Inter are the stand out continental opposition to play United at Bramall Lane (both Inter and Ajax XIs have played Club at the Lane in the past).
